In Florida, there are unique sights that amaze the imagination, the creations of which nature itself has worked hard to create.

From freshwater sources to salt water lakes, from hidden caves with blue holes to rivers with fast current.

On the Gulf Coast, along the western coast of the Florida peninsula, magnificent offshore islands stretch with warm water and a subtropical climate.

But Florida is the only place that has the largest number of freshwater springs on the planet—over 700 springs.

As you understood, today’s article is about the clearest water in Florida’s Springs.🐋

Which Florida Springs Have the Cleanest Water?

Fern Hammock Springs,Crystal Springs( Crystal River), and Devil’s Den have the clearest water.

Crystal Springs (Crystal River)

The river got its name because of the incredibly clear water that comes from warm underground springs.

Underwater life thrives here, and you can meet dolphins, turtles, blue crabs, various types of birds, and fish.

Crystal River Wildlife Park is one of the few places in the world where you can canoe or kayak and swim with manatees in their natural habitat.

 Fern Hammock Springs

It is the refreshing tranquility of underground waters.

The Florida forest of Ocala hides from the sun in the shade of trees the enchanted world of underground springs.

The picturesque views will take your breath away.

More than 20 sand pockets in shallow water, connected by small bridges, from which you can watch how crystal clear water, depending on the weather and time of day, becomes turquoise, sapphire, and even sky blue.

This is a real oasis where you can enjoy nature in all its manifestations, including living in a tent, watching animals and birds in their natural habitat, swimming and sunbathing on a white sand beach, canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding.

Devil’s Den

It is an underground lake with crystal-blue water.

A hole in the ground opens the entrance to the cave, where there is an amazingly beautiful lake 74 feet deep, which is fed from an underground spring.

The water in the lake is warm, and on cold days, steam comes out of the hole.

Thousands of years ago, the upper part of the cave collapsed, and until the cavity was filled with water, the cave was a trap from which animals and people who fell there could not get out.

The remains of prehistoric animals that fell there are still found at the bottom of the cave to this day.

You can’t just splash in the lake, but there are organized diving and snorkeling sessions (for adults and children over 6 years old).

But non-divers will not be bored either; above the cave is everything you need for a family picnic.

What is The Bluest Spring in Florida?

Three Sisters Spring and Alexander Springs have the bluest water.

Three Sisters Springs

Indeed, Three Sisters Spring has the bluest fresh water.

Wildlife viewing, hiking trails, biking, and guided tours are all available at this beautiful wildlife sanctuary, but it is best known as the world-famous manatee winter sanctuary.

West Indian manatees migrate to the spring’s warm waters every year, so this is a must-see if you want to see them in their natural habitat.

Alexander Springs

Alexander Springs is a crystal-clear turquoise oasis with the bluest water.

It is perfect for hot summer days.

Within the park, visitors can fish, swim, canoe, and even scuba dive, as this is the only spring in the Ocala State Reserve where scuba diving is allowed.

What Part of Florida Has the Clearest and Bluest Water?

North Florida has the most natural springs with the clearest and bluest water.

This part is known to many Americans as a wilderness area with amazing forests, rivers and deep depressions filled with clear water.

These are many springs with crystal water.

The most famous of them is the Blue Hole. This place is often chosen by divers.

North Florida is home to numerous representatives of the animal world.

Otters, beavers, turtles, turkeys, ducks, and many other animals and birds are found here.

But most tourists are attracted to springs with crystal-clear water.

No other place in Florida can compare to Ichhetucknee Springs.

People come here for picnics, to take a break from the heat by the cool water, to go fishing, and to swim.

For those who like to admire the beauty of Ichhetucknee Springs Park without the hustle and bustle and a large number of visitors, you need to come here in the off-season since there is a tropical climate here.

Winter is the best time for diving enthusiasts.

Snorkeling is allowed here only from October to March.

It is at this time that divers come here.

As for other parts of Florida, Southeast Florida boasts the largest artificial reefs in the country, and many of the 60 wrecks in Palm Beach and Broward County are great for first-time divers.

The coral archipelago of the Florida Keys is world-famous and makes you freeze in silent admiration.

It is ideal for all divers who enjoy tropical coral reefs and the local wreck area.

Unusual Underwater World in Florida’s Springs

There are live mermaids in Florida’s Weeki Wachee Water Park that have been entertaining visitors for 70 years.

And this is not the only attraction in this part of the Gulf of Mexico.

Episodes from many movies were filmed here.

Gradually, the small town became a very visited place in Florida.

In the late 1950s, a television station bought the park and built an underwater hall for 500 spectators.
The area around the source is a state park, so the natural conditions here are unchanged.

Next door, in Buccaneer Bay, guests can take a dip in the cool waters – their constant temperature is 71 degrees , which is sometimes very refreshing in hot Florida.

Weeki Wachee has another unique advantage: manatees.

In winter, they like to frolic in the many springs and rivers around Weeki Wachee.

In summer, however, they prefer the open sea.
