Parque Natural de Corralejo
Parque Natural de Corralejo is a paradise for kite surfers.
It has endless sandy beaches with white sand and stunning views.
Every day there is a bunch of surfers who hone their skills here, and if you don’t have your own board, the kite surfing equipment can be rented from the surfing facilities located on the beach.
This park is a very nice place and you can sit all day in the sand and watch the kite surfers do their tricks on the water.
The Parque is an extensive beach of white sand, crystal clear water, and like all Fuerteventura beaches, it is something you can go back and forth forever.
Choose a day when the wind is not too much if you plan to kite surf.
If the weather condition is not good, tourism authorities raise the red flag to signify the beach is not open for any kite surfing activities.
The Parque Natural de Corralejo is a well maintained stretch of beach where people can both swim and go (kite) surfing, and the waves are not too high.
However, you should be aware of the stones on the stretch of the beach because there is quite a lot (wear appropriate shoes for this purpose).
One advantage of all of those stones is that you can wander around at low tide for crabs and beautiful shells.
There is also a little beach bar where you can get just as much fun while having an ice cream or cocktail drinks.
It looks like a desert in the middle of the Fuerteventura islands where it is hot to walk, but definitely worth it.
The beach has complete infrastructure, hotels, and a row of restaurants.

Corralejo Dunes
The Corralejo Dunes is a one of a kind tourist attraction in La Oliva.
Walking the dunes gives you a feeling of escape from reality; as if you are walking into a desert where the silence and tranquillity give you freedom and relaxation.
A visit on these extraordinary dunes is always a unique experience.
It is a lovely beach where you can walk tall and have a streak-free tan because the beach is suitable for long walks.
Generally, it is quiet everywhere and there is plenty of room for kite surfing.
It is a truly beautiful area where you can wander for hours.
The area is intersected by a road that leads to the town of Corralejo.
The nice view points of the beaches will really make you feel like you’re in the Caribbean.
This should be visited if you are on holiday in Fuerteventura territory in La Oliva.

FuerteCharter
The FuerteCharter is an adventure that you will not forget.
Once you arrive, the crew will take you on board a nice catamaran ride to the amazing Island of Lobos.
After a tour around the island you’ll sail for about 45 minutes around the ocean where the anchor is thrown overboard.
The skipper and his crew will take you to a great spot where it is time for a swim and a great snorkelling experience.
The diving crew brings out bread for the fish and follow you down to take great underwater photos using their GoPro’s.
It is a great way to explore the ocean floor of La Oliva and an adventure that is 100 % recommended.

Corralejo Catamarans Day Tours
The Corralejo Catamarans Day Tours is a great boat ride and the most practical way to see the rest of the islands along the Canary territory.
The crew of Alexander and Dani is the real strength of this excursion each time they share the sympathy, friendliness, fun but also comprehensive explanations of the island of Los Lobos, with lots of tips for exploring the Fuerteventura region.
It is a beautiful immersion in water surrounded by fish with Dani who takes photos and videos then put on a USB stick available for purchase.
They have great food and drinks and classical music (the best of all is “the Blue Danube” by Strauss).
This excursion is strongly recommended when in La Oliva.
Lajares
Lajares is a small and quaint town with many shops selling handmade things.
It has very backward technologically and you will feel like being in another world in the past.
This is the surfer’s village of the Fuerteventura.
There are many surfers who stay here during the day and go to the east (Corralejo – North shore) or head out to El Cotillo.
With every wind direction and strength there is a suitable location that can be reached in 15 minutes.
If you drive from Corralejo to El Cotillo you must come through this town.
For lovers of surf brands and equipments, this is an excellent place.
There are more than four surf shops that will readily assist you if you need gears, equipment, and teachers when it comes to kite surfing.
Fun things to do in La Oliva Fuerteventura
Acua Water Park
Cleanliness and order of the water facilities are very good, but the attractions of the Acua Water Park
are a bit dated and the entry price is quite high compared to the largest water parks in Spain.
The price / quality are not optimal.
Compared to other parks in the Canaries (e.g.
Tenerife) there is a certain difference.
In any case, the staffs are polite and attentive.
The only real advantage is that the kamikaze slides are never too crowded and therefore can be repeated several times in a short time.
The park is nice and the kids will surely enjoy, but is a bit small.
Isla de Lobos
The Isla de Lobos is an unspoiled island civilization.
It is a small island near the Canary region of the Fuerteventura.
It is clean, original, and well preserved by the people of La Oliva.
It’s amazing that such places still remain on the planet.
The beginning of spring is perhaps the best time to visit the island because the flowers are in full bloom and the lush vegetation looks more appealing, but be sure to take hats and water and apply sunscreen if you’re travelling during the day.
If you want to go around the island, it will take at least 3 hours.
If you want to climb the mountain, the journey will take another three hours of your allotted travel time.
Most of it is pretty monotonous in terms of environment.
The lagoons are beautiful and the crossing (by boat) costs 15 Euros.
Isla de Lobos is an uninhabited island and a well protected nature park.
You can walk around the whole island on a very good path.
It is a breathtakingly beautiful and varied walk where you will see volcanoes, desert, fossils, lots of flowers and plants, lighthouses, lava, marshes, lagoons, fishing village with restaurant, and a beautiful sandy beach.
The visitor center is small and closes half an hour before the last return journey, so first buy your souvenirs before going around the entire Island of the Lobos.

Kayak Fuerteventura
The Kayak Fuerteventura is definitely a paradise for those who practice the sport.
It is accessible from the route to the Island of Lobos.
The whole journey is great and fun, a little bit tiring, but worth it.
The guides Jorge and Juan are very friendly and they will explain how to use the kayak well and delight you with funny stories about the island along the way.
It is interesting to know that you have to take care of the material and take it to the edge, pass by a rocky area where you can let slide or flip flop your way all around.
The kayak weighs much and it is easier to take a more accessible place.
But overall, both guides and the kayak experience register a perfect ten on the satisfaction scale if you’re seeking for fun and adventure on the island of La Oliva.
What else to see in Fuerteventura?
El Cotillo Beach & Lagoons
The El Cotillo Beach and Lagoon are one of the nicest resorts in Fuerteventura.
It is also an ideal place for surfers because it has the right mix of strong winds, high waves, and sandy beaches.
It has a sheltered harbor, a defense bastion, lime kilns and in the northeast a lighthouse with beautiful bays.
This beach is a must for anyone who is on a summer holiday in Fuerteventura.
It is located just across the other side of the Corralejo.
It is easily accessible via public transport or you can come there with a four-wheel jeep which you can hire for a day.
If you’re not a fan of huge crowds, avoid the weekends.
This place is simply unforgettable and the small beaches with shallow waters are well protected by the wind.
You can also sunbathe and swim without a bathing suit in one of its many remote places.
The place offers a blissful feeling of freedom and peace and tourists prefer its charming atmosphere than any other beaches on the island.
If you get hungry, you can have a meal at the Vaca Azul and choose any seafood dish that is excellently prepared and served on the terrace close to the harbor.
Do not miss this attraction when you’re in La Oliva.
It is a true paradise that is worth visiting.
Beautiful Beaches in Fuerteventura
Playa El Marrajo
The Playa El Marrajo is located very close to the El Faro de Toston.
To get there take the road (asphalt) leading to the lighthouse and park at the lighthouse, take a few steps and arrive in paradise!
You can choose between large and small coves and enjoy the beach, the ocean, water sports and simply unwind.
There is nothing, absolutely nothing, just you, the sand, the ocean, the wind, the gulls and a few other tourists like you.
It is a dream beach destination for the more adventurous tourist.
It is located along the Carretera (lane) that leads from Corralejo to El Cotillo, along the old road facing the sea.
The access can be made from the extreme north of the Corralejo sea side where you must take the first road in the direction of the wind turbines.
The adventurous road is partially paved and you need to go very slowly to avoid surprises from its wildlife area.
In recent years, it has been a bit restored, but because of the sea water that sometimes invades the roadway and the wind it’s not the best option to access the area.
However, while covering it you can enjoy the unique scenery and learn that every 100 – 200 meters you can stop for a refreshing swim in the calm waters of the many lagoons that are formed at least twice a day due to the rise and fall of the tide.
After passing through these adventurous trails, you will arrive at the Playa El Marrajo (you cannot go wrong because they put a good sign).
There is a wide lagoon protected by reefs far away from the beach and here you can do everything.
It is a lovely place that is highly recommended when in La Oliva.

Castillo del Toston
The Castillo del Toston is a watch tower of the 18th century that was built on the foundations of the ancient castle and is now used for exhibitions by local artists.
If you go to El Castillo it is worth a visit.
It is located at the gates of the dirt road that leads to the beaches offering a beautiful panoramic view of the Playa de Esquinzo.
The castle or rather this fortification, however, is remarkable both for how it is made for the guests to appreciate and understand.
It is definitely a good way to learn the history of La Oliva before continuing on to the small fishing village that is located right next to the castle, which is also worth a visit.
The simple castle stands on one of the most beautiful cliffs of the island.
The view is breathtaking and the sunsets are spectacular.
The castle, maybe small, but it’s very characteristic.
Oliva fishing tours – My experience
Museum of Traditional Fishing
The Museum of Traditional Fishing is very well located and it can be found right next to the Lighthouse Toston, although a bit out of Cotillo.
It is small and well preserved, but there are too few panels and fishing gadgets that are virtually nonexistent.
As for the panels, they should translate it into other languages, so that visitors from other countries can enjoy the museum.
On the good side, it is worth climbing the 62 steps of the tower to enjoy the views of the area and the lighthouse.
It presents a good review of the history of the fishing village in La Oliva.
It’s nice to get enlightened about the difficulties of fishing in the area during the early times and how they have traditionally evolved.
From the top of the lighthouse tower, you can see the force of the water and enjoy the dramatic sunset.
There are no cafeteria or bathrooms and it is only worth going for the view.
If you want a leisurely and relaxing holiday along the Canary Islands and in La Oliva, the beaches of this island are a must in your travel itinerary.
La Oliva is blessed with great beaches and few crowds.
Most of the beaches here are excellent with small children.
There are many active recreation options designed for the family.
You can ride a kite, send your teenagers to a surfing school, or simply have a picnic, or sunbathe while basking in the beautiful sandy beaches in La Oliva.
