Is It Better to Stay in Key Largo or Islamorada?

Florida has many beautiful beaches, and it can be confusing to know which of them to visit.

Many tourists like me enjoy going to Key West and Miami Beach, but many others choose to go to the beaches many people do not go to.

If you are a vacationer, and you are desirous of fun in the sun, it may be for the whole of the vacation time or just a day fun trip, I would like you to consider visiting the following islands of the Florida Keys, for so many adventures and activities.

I know it may be difficult for you to choose from among these islands.

The information below will help you decide which of the islands to choose.

Key Largo

Of all the Florida Keys, Key Largo is the largest.

It is located northernmost of the Florida Keys.

It is known as the “Diving Capital of the World.” Key Largo is close to the Florida Everglades.

It is very popular among tourists who desire a view of beautiful landscapes, ranging from tropical hardwoods to the only existing coral barrier reef in the continental United States.

How to get there:

Kay Largo is a nice place for you to make a stopover if you are on a tour of the Florida Keys.

From Miami International Airport to the island will take about one and one quarter hour.

Things To Do In Key Largo:

At Key Largo, you will not lack what to do.

It is popular for its eco-tourism.

It has a lot of state parks and underwater activities.

Tourists who would like to explore land and water at the same time always have their hands full of activities.

Water-based activities will engage you more than land-based activities.

Wild Water Adventures

The location of Key West is to the advantage of tourists who love to engage in water sports.

I will tell you a few things you will see when you vacation to Key Largo.

Do you want to explore the beautiful underwater scenery?

The Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary is a top spot for you.

You can explore the underwater scenery by diving, snorkeling, and other recreational activities.

You will be exposed to many underwater treasures if you want to see all kinds of marine wildlife, corals, and historic shipwrecks.

You can swim with the dolphins.

At the Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center, you can be educated on the plants and animals indigenous to the area.

If you are interested in boats, you can learn about boating opportunities.

My Tips for you:

The sanctuary does not engage in snorkel or dive trips.

Instead, you can engage the service of Blue Star Operators.

This is a program that specializes in underwater activities.

It provides safe and sustainable underwater activities while protecting the area’s diverse ecosystem.

Below is a list of participating fish guides and dive operators at Key Largo.

Islamorada

Islamorada is made up of a group of 6 islands.

It is more of a village than a town.

These islands are located between Miami and Key West.

Islamorada is a tourist destination but is not as big as Key Largo.

The island is very attractive to tourists because every facility for all activities they want to engage in is there.

Another name for Islamorada is “Sport Fishing Capital of the World.”

Islamorada features lovely environments,  good recreational activities, and the calm, charming atmosphere you will expect to have in a village setting.

Anne’s Beach

Anne’s Beach is a tourist destination for you and your entire family, your dog inclusive, but you must put your dog on a leash.

This beach has 300 feet of boardwalk as well as six pavilions.

Everything about this beach is wonderfully beautiful.

You can engage in swimming, picnicking, and relaxation.

Your children can swim because the wave action in the water is next to nothing.

Founders Park

This park is known as “The gem of Islamorada.” It is the best place for tourists who want to engage in multiple activities simultaneously because it has all activities in place, aquatic sports, outdoor activities, and family-friendly events.

However, dogs are not allowed on the beaches or picnic areas.

My Opinion

If are planning to go on your next vacation to Key Largo, John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park will give you a unique experience.

The topography of this area is a mixture of mangrove swamps and tropical regions.

The center of attraction here is the coral reefs.

People’s popular activities in this park include scuba diving, snorkeling, canoeing, and kayaking.

You can ride on a glass-bottom boat tour to explore the mysteries of the reefs.

If you are not interested in marine activities, there are lots of activities for you on land, such as short hikes or picnics.

So many above-water and below-water activities in Key Largo attract many people to the key.

It is a destination for tourists who want to feel marine wildlife, the colorful coral reefs, and the hidden treasures of Key Largo.

  • Key Largo is a good tourist destination for families.

It has entertainment facilities for people of all ages.

  • Many activities will get you engaged in this Key, such as the History of Diving Museum, The Crane Point Museum and Nature Center, and The Hemingway Home and Museum.
  • Key Largo has a lot of accommodation facilities, ranging from large resorts and motels to more modest B&Bs and family-owned vacation rentals.
  • Different kinds of vibrant restaurants in Key Largo offer different delicacies.
