I think it is obvious that transponder tolls are less expensive than paying by cash.

However, picking a transponder can be confusing.

Most US toll booths today use an electronic toll collection system as an alternative, but at some places you can pay cash.

What if you travel to Florida?

What Sun Pass should I get and why?

Letโ€™s figure this out together.

SunPass Pro Uni Pass

SunPass PRO is a product of SunPass, Floridaโ€™s Prepaid Toll Program.

SunPass PRO is compatible with Florida as well as 21 additional states, including all E-ZPass locations.

Drivers can enjoy the ease of automatic toll payment with SunPass PRO, enabling nonstop travel with just one toll account.

E-PASS, which is owned and run by the Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX), produces Uni.

Use of Uni requires an E-PASS account.

UniPass is a portable transponder that functions flawlessly on all toll highways in 19 states, including any location that accepts E-ZPass.

Uni transponders can be used on all express lanes in Florida, including those with the signs โ€œSunPass Onlyโ€ and I-4 Express lanes.

It works in Florida plus Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, parts of Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia.

SunPass Pro does not charge you annually.

If you have a SunPass, it is scanned by an electronic reader, and the fare is debited from your prepaid account.

This reduces fares by about 25 percent and saves significant time at the toll booths.

The SunPass Pro costs $19.99 plus tax.

UniPass does not charge you annually.

You only pay when you use toll roads.

Uni costs $14.95 plus tax, and you can order it through your E-ZPass account.

Florida residents who make 35 or more toll transactions per month will automatically receive a 50% account credit under the scheme.

UniPass gives youย exclusive volume toll discountsย onย CFX roads.

You can save up to 30% over the cash toll rate.

Well, now I clearly see a difference between these two passes.

If you travel only in Florida, then choose any of them, but if you are planning to travel around the USA, then definitely take the Sun Pass Pro, as it works in 21 states but costs 5 dollars more.

Today, the SunPass Pro costs $19.99 plus tax.

Uni costs $14.95 plus tax, and you can order it through your E-ZPass account.

What is the Best Way to Pay Tolls in Florida?

You can buy a special device like SunPass, which is usually mounted on the windshield of the car.

In this case, when the transport approaches the payment point, it automatically contacts this point, and when the payment is made, it automatically opens the barrier.

In this case, a complete stop of the car is not required.

Such a device must be registered on a banking website, where it is automatically linked to the bank account of the car owner, and when driving, the bank automatically withdraws the required amount from the card.

In other states, on the busiest sections of the road, in order to prevent the equipment from going astray, payment is usually made manually; on calmer roads, there are special machines for receiving money.

The second option is that at the entrance to the highway, there is a barrier, and next to it is a machine from which you must take a ticket; otherwise, the barrier will not open.

A ticket will also be needed at the exit to pay for the distance and the road that the driver drove.

In this case, all entrances to the highway are blocked by barriers, with automatic machines standing nearby where you need to take a ticket.

At the exit of the highway, there are machines that accept payment.

Sometimes, instead of machines for accepting bills, they put in funnels that accept coins.

Such toll roads are usually organized mainly in the northern states of the country.

What is The Difference Between SunPass Pro and E-ZPass?
๐Ÿ“– Florida โ€“ Tolls & SunPass๐Ÿ‘๏ธ 17969 views

What Toll Pass Works in Most States?

It is E-ZPass.

E-ZPass, the most dominant transponder system, allows you to pay a toll from Maine to North Carolina and as far west as Illinois.

Although some toll transponders can coexist with one another,

The E-ZPass Interagency Group (IAG) is made up of member agencies in 19 states that use the same technology and allow travelers to use the same transponder on toll roads on the network.

Customers can use their E-ZPass tag to pay for parking at several airports, including JFK and LaGuardia in New York, as well as other parking lots, in addition to paying for tolls on the roads.
