Ohio is famous for innovating aircraft, gas-powered automobile, phonograph, golf balls, and more.

I came to Ohio because of my love for innovation and fun.

With the many great things happening in the state, not many parts enjoy this prosperity.

I will discuss places you would find more low-income earners and homeless people in Ohio.

What’s the poorest town in Ohio?

Lincoln heights

has been rated as the poorest town out of the Ohio’s 623 towns.

For example, a typical household in this town can earn as low as $12,183 annually.

What's the Poorest Town in <a href=

While many people may agree with me that this earning is poor, but in most African countries, this amount is huge.

In the United States, I am surprised when I am told that some amount of money is considered as being poor.

In countries like Nigeria and Benin Republic, earning at least $10,000 annually means a lot to many average families.

Where is Lincoln Heights located?

You can easily mix up the location of this town because

Los Angeles

and Ohio have towns with the same name.

However, in Ohio, you can find the town in

Hamilton County

.

Ethnic Groups in Lincoln Heights

When I visited Lincoln Heights, I mingled with the black community, where I found some old friends.

I found out that Lincoln Heights is a diverse destination that houses Hispanic and non-

Hispanic communities

.

However, I realized that most households do not speak a non-English language.

Therefore, English language is the primary language use at home, except in some families.

I realized that these

people came here because of the low-cost of living

, but I saw many homeless people.

Furthermore, the locals have a family-based system that makes it easier to relate with visitors.

Meanwhile, most of the residents in town are United States citizens.

This means that about 99% of the residents are citizens.

The Lincoln Heights Economy

The median property value of the town is around $70,400, which is attracts many people to the town.

I realized that many residents drive alone to their work ends and most households have one car for their use.

When it comes to Lincoln Heights, I  realized the town struggles with development.

The number of people employed is fewer than most towns in the state.

For example, only 764 workers were employed in the different sectors when I checked last year.

I believe as the state improves its economy, towns like Lincoln Heights can have a better living condition.

Which city in Ohio has the highest poverty rate?

Warren is the city with the highest poverty rate in Ohio.

Following Warren are East Cleveland and Youngstown in the highest levels of poverty.

In Warren, I found many black residents.

Warren has 46.

5% poverty rate level, which is extremely high compared to the national rate.

The town became a major trade center for farmers around the

countryside

during the 19th and 20th centuries.

However, things have changed towards the downside for the town, especially in the manufacturing and trading center.

Warren Economy Expansion

I don’t think Warren is slowing down with its economy policies to help its residents.

For example, the city helps small businesses with working capital and capital assets to help them expand.

Growth and retention of employment opportunities have become a significant key for the low interest, fixed rate, and short term loans.

However, before you qualify for loans, you will provide collateralization, projections, financial records, and a business.

I believe you need a good business plan to enjoy these loans.

I learned that most of these loans form a part of the city’s plan to bridge the gap the poverty loan.

The concept is simple.

When businesses employ more people, the level of unemployment reduces and many households from going hungry.

If you want to expand your business, you can consider using the City Loan Programs administered by Warren Redevelopment and Planning Corp.

I heard that you cannot use the loan for housing or real estate projects.

Type of Warren Loans for Businesses

I have listed some of the loans that Warren offers to help its economy.

Here are some of these loans:

  • Façade Improvement Loans

: Warren supports with its façade improvement by providing loans to targeted areas.

The city charges at least 3% interest rate for up to $15,000 on commercial buildings, including $25,000 on historic buildings.

With this loan, you can improve your parking lot, landscaping, or lighting.

When I visit some commercial corridors, I see these improvements.

  • Mahoning Valley Economic Development Corporation

: If you have a small business, you can use this loan to take care of your business.

  • Industrial Revenue Bonds (IRB):

I like this loan that handles the manufacturing sector.

Although, it’s a small issue bonds, it does not have federal income taxes associated with it.

However, if your project is not up to one million dollars, I recommend that you don’t use it because of the upfront fees.

Warren Tax Incentives

There is another thing I like about Warren.

The city offers tax incentives that are helping its economy to rebounds.

  • City of Warren Property Investment Reimbursement

: This worked on an Employment and Investment formula.

Furthermore, it works on new withholding taxes you pay yearly, but needs a minimum investment of $25,000 for new employment.

  • Warren Profits Tax Credit

: It works on similar formula like property investment reimbursement incentive.

You need to make a minimum investment of $150,000.

Meanwhile it functions as a 10 year abatement for users.

  • Enterprise Zone Tax Abatements

: You can use this incentive for any extra Improvements to your property’s infrastructure.

I recommend that you read the terms and conditions because abatements could be as high as 100% in a period of 10 years.

You will make a $750 payment for this.

    .

  • CRA (Community Reinvestment Area) Abatements

: Unlike the Enterprise Zone tax abatement, CRA works within Warren’s CRA district.

You can use this abatement to help with your property restorations or projects.

Which is the poorest county in Ohio?

Adams County, on Ohio’s border with Kentucky is the poorest in the state.

Adams County has a median annual household income of about $39,079.

I will forget about the poverty rate in Adams County, and talk about its natural beauty.

Coming to this country offers you an opportunity to see abundance of resources in its limestone deposits, wildlife, forests, and fertile farmland.

In Adams County, you will find more agricultural activities, which is an important part of its economy.

In some quarters, I have heard people call this country, the Last Frontier of Ohio.

I agree with them.

Finally, if you ask me if

Ohio is a poor state

, I will say no because of its growing economy, great policies, and tax incentives.
