Hey guys!

Today I am here to give you everything I am going through and learning as I am here, living in Florida now.

I want to get into toll roads.

Well, here in Florida, I barely see E-Pass, but I see SunPass everywhere.

What is The Difference Between SunPass and SunPass Pro?

Both of these transporters are part of Florida’s Prepaid Toll Program.

These two passes can be used wherever easy passes are accepted.

They are accepted on toll roads, and they are accepted on bridges not only through Florida but other states as well.

SunPass Vs SunPass Pro

SunPasses have suction cups and can be moved from car to car; they work on motorcycles and even on sunpass parking.

But here is the main difference:

A standard SunPass toll works across three states: Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina only.

While SunPass PRO works across eighteen states, including

  1. Florida
  2. Georgia
  3. Illinois
  4. Indiana
  5. Kentucky
  6. Maine
  7. Maryland
  8. Massachusetts
  9. North Carolina
  10. New Hampshire
  11. New Jersey
  12. New York
  13. Ohio
  14. Pennsylvania
  15. Rhode Island
  16. Virginia
  17. West Virginia
  18. Delaware

What States Accept SunPass for tolls?

Only Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina are covered by a basic SunPass toll tag.

While Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina are among the eighteen states where the SunPass PRO toll tag, a product of SunPass, is functional,

Is SunPass Being Phased Out?

No,SunPass service systems are still ongoing.

As far as I know, in 2021, it took Florida authorities two years to sort out the pending payments and get the online payment system up and running again in other states.

Two years of unprocessed fees, lawsuits, audits, fines, and suspended contracts

Later, the Florida Department of Transportation said it would waive all fees and fines during the system upgrade.

But some SunPass users are still worried about the huge bill of accrued fines.

After online payment systems were restored in other states, some customers received huge bills totaling tens of thousands of dollars in late payment fines.

Bank accounts of some citizens were suspended due to alleged debt.

What is the New Law for SunPass?

The new Toll Relief Program, which went into effect on January 1, 2023, gives credits to commuters who use toll highways frequently.

Florida residents who make 35 or more toll transactions per month will automatically receive a 50% account credit under the scheme.

How Do I Upgrade my SunPass to Pro?

There are various methods for doing this:

  • By calling the 1-888-TOLL-FLA (1-888-865-5352) SunPass service center,
  • Or entering a stop or a store that sells the SunPass Pro
  • Or by ordering the Pro transponder from the official website.

Without the tax, this portable toll transponder will cost $14.95.

Is SunPass Plus the Same as SunPass?

SunPass Plus is just a simple way to pay for parking.

As you approach the parking garage, choose the SunPass Plus lane.

Choose the SunPass Plus departure lane at the toll booth.

The airport parking fees will be charged to your SunPass account automatically.

For this, you have to be a SunPass Plus member. If your account does not automatically replenish your SunPass, log onto SunPass.

And make some changes to your account before using the SunPass Plus program.

Is it Worth Getting a SunPass in Florida?

Yes, it is worth it.

You can buy it almost everywhere you go in Florida.

It will make it easy to pay tolls and will allow you to pay tolls electronically, deducted from your personal prepaid account.

You can benefit from SunPass savings programs and SunPass Plus parking by having one.

Additionally, it offers the most convenient method for paying tolls on many out-of-state toll highways, express lanes, most bridges, and toll roads throughout Florida.

How Much is a Yearly Florida SunPass?

Well, it depends how much you travel.

If you have a SunPass, it is scanned by an electronic reader, and the fare is debited from your prepaid account.

This reduces fares by about 25 percent and saves significant time at the toll booths.

How Can I check my Sunpass Balance?

To check your Sunpass balance, first go to the Sunpass website.

When you get there, look for the big green “My Account” button in the top right corner of the homepage. Click on this button. Log in to your Sunpass account and click on the “Account Overview” link.

After clicking on this link, your Sunpass will be displayed there.

If you have forgotten your username or password, click the “Forgot your password or username?” link when you try to log into your account.

Get your username and password, and then login to get your balance.

Can you Switch SunPass Between Cars?

Yes, the Sun Pass can be used on multiple vehicles.

You must add the car’s license plate number to your SunPass account in order to do that.

By doing this, the transponder for that car will be activated.

Does SunPass Cover All of Florida?

Yes,

The SunPass Portable, SunPass Mini, and SunPass PRO, as well as E-ZPass, E-Pass, and LeeWay, work on all toll roads throughout Florida.

Can You go Through SunPass Without it?

No, then choose another interoperable transponder or pay toll-by-PLATE…

With the toll-by-PLATE method, a photo of your vehicle’s license plate will be taken when it passes under the tolling equipment.

A toll enforcement invoice will be mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle for the toll.

But this will be more expensive than buying a SunPass.

Failure to pay when utilizing a toll facility in Florida may result in a vehicle registration stop or a referral to a collections agency.

What is The Minimum Payment for SunPass?

The SunPass Standard transponder costs $14.95 plus

The SunPass Pro costs $19.99 plus tax.

The SunPass Mini Transponder costs $4.99 plus tax.

What If I Accidentally Ran a SunPass Toll-Managed Line?

There are so-called express lanes, which are a faster alternative to other lanes and will unload or unload major highways during rush hour.

To avoid traffic jams. You can use it if you have a prepaid pass and a transponder. The current fee is displayed by electronic signs when driving in the express lane and depends on the current traffic volume.

A $25 daily violation fee will be assessed if you use a managed lane without a SunPass or another Florida-accepted transponder.
