Sarasin Bridge in Phuket

This is the first bridge that was built between Phuket and the Mainland Thailand.

This bridge has been named after a wealthy Thai Clan which has been involved in Thai politics and business since the 19th Century.

The Sarasin clan is a Thai Chinese political family which has a lot of influence in the current affairs of Thailand.

At a length of 700 meters, this bridge replaced the ferry service in 1967, which was then the popular mode of transport and the only connection to the mainland.

Basically the increase in the number of Automobiles in Thailand led to the construction of a bigger and better bridge right next to the Sarasin Bridge.

When this bridge was completed in 2011, it became one of the major tourist attractions.

People normally come here to enjoy the sunrise and the sunset and this happens to be the most important spot for viewing this phenomenon.

The entire idea of keeping the earlier older bridge for the tourists was to create the space for a nice evening stroll and the bridge has been transformed in to a good strolling destination, with two towers linked by a platform which has been built right at the center.

This platform has become a viewpoint to the Andaman Sea on one side and the fishing villages on the other side.

The place is totally lit up in the evenings after sunset and the lines of lamps create a magical environment.

There are many local vendors here who offer mouthwatering delights and you may also be lucky to find some beer in stock.

The open air restaurant is a delight to those who want to spend a couple of hours just lazing around here.

Visit this bridge for a unique experience of Sightseeing.
