Agadir or Marrakech

Welcome to

Agadir, a resort destination along Morocco’s Southern

Atlantic Coast.

Agadir is a popular destination

for a winter sun holiday and it is warmer in Agadir than in Marrakech.

The lifestyle is beach style and the vibe is laid back, a slow pace when compared to Marrakech.

However, I don’t see the city as boring because it has many lively beachfront bars, pubs, clubs,  and restaurants.

The water is sparkling and suitable for jet skis, surfing, and sailing tours.

The attraction for lovers of nature adorns every corner and it has well-equipped museums.

The city is safe, welcoming, an ideal family destination, and a surfer’s delight.

In southwestern Morocco,

you behold Marrakech

, a very popular city break destination.

It is busy and very chaotic, which makes the city full of buzz and vibe.

Marrakech is Morrocco’s third-largest city, it showcases all the visitor attractions you expect from a big city.

It boasts of cultural institutions and sites, spas and baths, and lots of souks and shops.

Marrakech is steeped in history as well.

Its historic medina with its warren of winding alleys originates from the 11th century, it is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The unique thing about Marrakech is its street life.

The city is fantastic to roam, relishing the marvelous scenery of everyday life you behold.

You don’t have to do much to enjoy the city, but if you want to, there is plenty to do.

Things to do

Agadir

If you have not visited Agadir, you should prepare for the fun time of your life.

Agadir is famous because of its good weather and beach.

The present city is new for it was rebuilt after an earthquake destroyed the old city in 1960.

Therefore, this is a modern resort city with remnants of its past visible.

Most visitors to Agadir want to explore the beach and the water.

The city is set up for watersports and excursions.

The palm tree-lined beachfront has lots of bars and restaurants.

From the main tourist area, where the hotels are located, everything is within walking distance.

The fun spots all face each other, from the beach you walk to the  Kasbah(the old fortress) and the Royal Palace, although visitors are not allowed inside.

Roam the beach, Both are very lovely sights to visit and you get a panorama view from the Kasbah.

The Museum of Amazigh Culture (Musée Municipal du Patrimoine Amazighe d’Agadir) is one of the most interesting sites to visit.

This is the best place to learn more about the Amazigh

people (often called Berbers) and Morocco

and its culture.

A small tourist train transports you from the center of Agadir to all the wonderful sights.

The train takes you to the beach, and the rebuilt medina if you are tired of walking.

Marrakech

Marrakech is a dynamic city with an energetic feel.

The city has a deep-rooted history, which can be traced back to the 11th century.

You can see the city’s past in its glorious medina and souks.

The first time I arrived in Marrakech, I lost myself in the warren of winding streets in the medina.

The medina is the old city and it is enclosed by 19km (11.

8 miles) of ancient pink walls.

It looks stunning and brimming with stalls, souks, and streetlife.

Explore on foot and savor the sights, sounds, and smells.

Admire the stalls and enjoy a mint tea and some dates in a cafe.

Stock up on spices and ornate decorations and rugs.

And don’t forget to admire the beautiful Moroccan architecture.

The attractive things to do in Marrakech include visiting the Saadian Tombs, Jardin Majorelle, the Musée Yves Saint Laurent and the Bahia Palace.

Apart from these, you acquire lots of experience in Marrakech.

This includes enjoying a hammam (public bathhouse), taking a local cookery class, eating the local cuisine in the Jemaa el-Fna, and taking a hot air balloon ride at sunrise.

Do you have a favorite city after reading this guide?

I still prefer Marrakech if you ask me to pick any of the cities.
