I have played around this beach for years and can tell you the hidden places.
Like other beaches, Myrtle Beach has some things you shouldn’t try.
What should I avoid in Myrtle Beach?
Before I answer this question, I will talk about what I may want you to experience when you come here.

Myrtle Beach: An Overview
Myrtle Beach is known as the Grand Strand.
In addition, the city was built to put a smile on your face and ensure you have a good time.
During the day, you can enjoy the sun on the long, seemingly endless large sandy beaches.
In the evening, you can go to Broadway on the beach for shopping, dinner or enjoy a wonderful show
You can do many activities with your family while on the beach.
Some of these activities include:
- Roller coasters
- Mini-golf
- Water parks
- Aquariums and so on
I love Myrtle Beach because it is a very affordable vacation destination for you and your family.
There are large hotels and many beachfront, which will surely be worth every penny.
Note: Because of the recent global health and safety issues, some businesses may be temporarily closed
Things to do in Myrtle Beach
Go Underwater at Ripley’s Aquarium
The Ripley’s Aquarium in Myrtle Beach allows families to explore the vast aquatic habitat from the inside.
This is all thanks to an acrylic tunnel, which winds through the dangerous reef aquarium.
From this tunnel, many visitors can get a closer view of thousands of fish such as sea turtles, giant sharks, stingrays, jellyfish, etc.
Some people can even decide to camp overnight inside the tunnel and some people with the guts can even try diving with the sharks.
Many habitats exist here.
The Indo-Pacific consists of aquatic residents like the intricately colored clown triggerfish, a stingray lagoon and an Amazon River habitat.
With this, visitors can be enlightened on marine life in the interactive discovery center.
Visiting the control room in this facility, visitors can also understand how these habitats are maintained.
Staff members also present regular shows like
- shark, sea dragon, and jellyfish feedings
- dive shows and
- mermaid shows.
I have witnessed these shows over the years, but the mermaid shows are my favorite.

The 6D Extreme Theater is an area where motion, environmental effects and 3-D film produce a very exciting ride.
Coming here with your family family is a worthwhile experience that you will not forget in a while
Outside this thrilling building is a zip line, which soars 1000 feet above the water.
It also features a rope course with numerous challenges suspended 40 feet in the air.
Hit the Beach
The best thing about Myrtle Beach is the amazing sixty miles of white sand stretching along the city’s oceanfront.
While on the beach, you can fly a kite, search for shells, throw a Frisbee or simply allow your children to enjoy the beautiful water while parents watch closely and relax.
If you’re an adventurer, there are many sports that you can engage in.
Some of these include:
- Parasailing
- Fishing
- Boating
- Surfing
- Windsurfing and
- Scuba diving
Some people just come to the beach, set up a chair and read a book.
At night, you can take a walk with your path lit by the hotels’ lights and the sound of water breaking on the sand in the background.
In the Boardwalk, you will find many of the town’s hotels, restaurants, souvenir shops and family tourist attractions.
The promenade, which measures a distance of 1.4 miles, has several stages, which feature arcades, concerts and other forms of entertainment.
Events and festivals are hosted in Myrtle Beach annually.
Some of which include:
- the Myrtle Beach Seafood Festival,
- the Carolina Country Music Fest, and others
My Thoughts
What should you avoid when you visit Myrtle Beach?
Firstly, I want you to avoid motels because of junkies and bedbugs.
Secondly, using Craigslist for your accommodation may not be in your best interest.
While the city was once regarded as one of the most dangerous cities in America, but, not all areas are dangerous.
Some of the safest places to stay here include North Myrtle Beach, Surfside Beach, and Pawleys Island.
When you visit Ocean Boulevard, Chester Street, Flagg Street, and Yaupon Drive in night, you must be careful to avoid being mugged.
