St. Fin Barre’s Cathedral
At the side of the altar, this beautiful Gothic Cathedral sought cannonball shot in the seventeenth century and was only discovered later in the demolition work.
Noteworthy also are the mosaics on the floor with drawings of animals and plants.
The building itself is also interesting and the St.
Finn Barre’s Cathedral is located just off the main street, but still worth the trip.

Fota Wildlife Park
The Fota Wildlife Park is a slice of the African savannah situated in Cork City.
The spaces are very large, the place is kept very well, also the human presence is so discreet that really gives the impression that you are in Africa.
There are amusement and games for children, a mini train for those who do not want to walk, and many wildlife animals that roam around freely in their natural habitat.
You can observe a funny family of monkeys at only 3 meters away and see kangaroo just inches away from where you stand.
The park is very well maintained and this is no different from other parks you will see in Ireland.
The most exciting are the wild animals; tigers, monkeys and lemurs that descend from the trees and tries to get near.
Some are free to roam and you will really have good memories of this place.
It is an ideal zoo and park that the whole family will definitely enjoy.
Spend a couple of hours in contact with many animals you can find in the Fota Park.
For the lucky ones, they will be able to witness the hatching of ostrich eggs if they tour around the section for the flightless birds.
You need to go here by train that stops immediately outside the station entrance to the zoo.
Go through the territory of a manmade island with the lake jumping monkey.

Ballycotton Cliff Walk
The unspoiled nature of the Ballycotton Cliff Walk offers the best scenic views of the city and the chance to go around the cliff.

University College Cork (UCC)
The University College Cork (UCC) campus is surrounded by a beautiful park with a natural channel that winds through meadows, ancient trees (each with its product label) and beautiful stone buildings.
It is all very different from most of the Irish universities you can find in the city.
This one is full of history and tradition.
Inside there is a mix of ancient and modern one.
The campus is bordered by the River Lee and has several entrances.
On a typical day, it has a pleasant and calm atmosphere filled with students everywhere and study rooms that are immense.
It is highly suggested to see the quadrangle and its various departments.
The college is undoubtedly the most impressive and majestic artwork of Cork.
It is a pioneer in many respects starting from the library, classrooms, social halls, and classroom, where lectures are held and where they are also often showing projected films.
The first thing that comes to mind visiting the main quadrangle of the UCC, is Hogwarts.
But woe to say to the students!
They do not like the comparison.
But the atmosphere is the one of the famous school of magic of Harry Potter.
Before the visit, go to the information desk, where you will find brochures and souvenirs.
Dine in the hallway with the collection of engraved stones with ancient Ogham, the assembly hall, and the main courtyard.
In a modern building, you will also find the Lewis Glucksman Gallery.
The architect of the university is Sir Thomas Dean, he is the same architect who designed the Cork City Gaol, which is another attraction that is worth visiting if you’re in the city.
Cork City Gaol
Although it is about a 30 minute walk away from the center of Cork,(uphill road enough, especially the first part) the prison or the Cork City Gaol is still worth a visit.
The ticket costs € 8, but if you’re lucky you can even take a guided tour free.
Always ask at the checkout when is the start next tour.
The prison is well maintained and also thanks to the opportunity to try a cell, you can put yourself in the lives of the prisoners.
The guidebooks here are also made available in many languages.
It looks very nice from the outside because it is well maintained and clean.
Upon entrance you will be given a map / guide in with the description of the individual cells and environments that you will visit.
There are statues representing the various prisoners who were incarcerated in these prisons, and in the main cell you will feel even the squeaking noises and sinister sounds.
You will also be impressed very much by the courtyard where the prisoners spent time to have air, or circle around the jail in silence.
In a cell you can also go in and shut the door behind him to try the same feelings of claustrophobia that is reserved only for the convicted.
It is absolutely an experience recommended to all those who wish to deepen their knowledge of the social and cultural aspects of the Irish.

Mizen Vision
The Mizen Vision is a bridge and panorama of fear in Cork City.
It is a beautiful place.
It has a footbridge that takes you high into an amazing sight.
If you dare take a look to the water under the bridge, there are lots of seals and the view is spectacular.
Mizen Head is the southernmost point of Ireland, the area where they meet both the Celtic Sea to the Atlantic Ocean.
The coasts are jagged, hanging over an expanse of water often angry and very strong.
You will be excited so much when on the Mizen Bridge, because it is quite a challenge to enjoy the spectacle that nature is offering: a group of seals that rests on the rocks after swimming in the sea that has rough waves.
A little further on, once you cross the bridge, the show gets even more exciting.
There is a kind of railing overlooking the ocean which allows you to see the entire coast and the waves crashing straight to the rock.
Mizen Head is one of the top spots in Ireland that is highly recommended for everyone.
The walk will be able to do for some to be a little exhausting, but the view makes up for all the hard work to reach this attraction.
Fitzgerald Park
The Fitzgerald Park is a good place to go in the summer, the place is beautiful and is a great place to spend the afternoon reading a book, relax , or maybe throw a ball.
This idyllic park is spacious, full of space to walk, relax, to go with children, friends, family, and in summer has a better ambiance because they sell food and other gift stalls about Ireland.
It is worth the walk to the river by the white bridge just outside the park and where you will also the granite wall.
The viewpoint is beautiful, eye-shaped and very modern and the cafe they have is fine too.
In Dublin there are better parks, but being more objective, for what Cork is (size) it is an acceptable park that allows you to walk and enjoy nature.
St. Peter and Paul’s Church
Located in a small neighborhood and a bit sheltered from the center near the Shandon Bells.
Admission is free and inside there are masterpieces of any kind.
From the outside, the Church is rather plain, but from the inside it is worth seeing.
You will really like this church and when you’re in Cork City it is a must see.
The choir and band every Sunday service is equally noteworthy.
Ballyhass Lakes Activity Centre, Fishing & Wakepark
The Ballyhass Lakes Activity Centre, Fishing & Wakepark is a fun and educational site that the whole family can truly enjoy to the fullest.
Upon payment of entrance fees, you will have a lesson in wakeboarding.
Here you will go after a boat with the cord that is connected to a radio wire – and it made it all so much easier.
You will be given a very nice instructor who will explain everything in a good way.
They care that you will gain more fun and knowledge as much as possible from out of this activity.
You will also have an incredibly fun time in the water and stepped up very proud of your achievement.
The center is quite large – there are changing rooms, showers, toilets, ample parking spaces and all the present staff is really nice.
They also offer a lot of other activities for those who want to fill their calendar further.
In summer, every Wednesday from 7:00 pm you can sing and dance in the open air to the sound of traditional Irish music and it finish at 11:00 pm in the adjoining bar where all the old Irish songs will be performed by you and together with the other regular customers.
Cork city is not only about old structures, landscapes, bridges, and churches, it is also home to lots of things to do or entertainment activities designed for the whole family to enjoy.
