1%, whites 34.

9%).

Hawaii

has more Asians than whites, and the District of Columbia has more blacks than whites.

There are more whites in Maryland and Nevada than any other race, but they do not constitute the majority.

The other seven states with more than 50 percent whites but not up to 60 percent white population are Georgia, Florida, Arizona,

New York

, New Jersey, Mississippi, and Louisiana.

Poston said that one of these states would lose its white majority in the next few decades.

Why has the Hispanic population size increased while the white population has decreased?

Hispanic women make more babies than white women.

The average number of babies made by each Hispanic woman is 1.

9, while their white counterparts make just an average of 1.

5 babies each in their lifetime.

Recently, in 1990, the fertility rate of Hispanic-white increased.

When the white women had an average of 1.

9 babies each, the Hispanic women were as high as 3.

0.

babies each.

There were significant differences in age structure.

7, while Hispanics had 29.

8.

Hispanics have more of their population the childbearing age than white women.

The mortality rate of Hispanics is lower relative to whites.

Another significant factor is Immigration because most Hispanics are immigrants to America than whites.

As of 2018, 50 percent of the people living in America born outside the country were from Latin America, 28 percent came from South and East Asia, and only 13 percent came from Europe and Canada.

The population of Hispanics has increased in Texas and America through increased immigration more than the white population.

There is a more aging white population relative to the younger Hispanic population.

This is another contributory factor to the increase of the Hispanic population in Texas and America and the decreasing white population.
