Best Places to Live in Texas for Families

Many of us know that moving to a foreign country is never easy.

When I was a potential immigrant before moving to

the USA

I started to look at different states

I evaluated them in terms of economic development, improvement, and the opportunity to give my children a good education.

Usually, all immigrants choose cities that are well known:

New York

, Los Angeles,

San Francisco

, Chicago and

Miami

, and few people dream of moving to

Texas

, although this is one of the largest, richest and most developed states in the United States.

What Are The Most Popular States for Families?

The most popular states among immigrants are California, Florida, New York, Washington and Texas.

All of these states are the most family-friendly destinations.

In my case, I chose Florida to move and my close friends who are IT guys decided to move to

Texas

.

Texas is a popular immigration destination.

Many IT companies are located here, such as eBay, Apple, PayPal, IBM and Dell.

The state ranks second in terms of population in the United States, it is famous for its variety of natural areas and interesting landscapes.

There are many large cities on the territory of the state, among which Houston, Abilene,

Victoria

, Dallas can stand out.

Also in the state there is always an active development of various spheres of the economy and an increase in the standard of living of the population.

My friends moved to Houston.

Houston

is the 4th largest metropolitan area in the US and one of the greenest cities.

The city is very large and international, there are a lot of people from different parts of the world, the whole city is a continuous colorful mixture from all over the world, which is very reflected in the local cuisine and cultural life: there are more than 10 thousand cafes, bars and restaurants, and the locals really like delicious food.

Some festivals, performances, shows and exhibitions are constantly held.

To be honest, this variety is hard to find in other American cities.

My friends are always telling me that there is a relative cheapness of life and low taxes: if Californians can hardly afford to buy a tiny old house for $ 700 thousand somewhere on the outskirts, then for this money in Houston you can buy yourself a new big house.

This city is the best option for immigrants who have just moved to America and are starting life from scratch.

Who Lives in Texas?

Texas is a multinational state.

It is difficult to list all the nationalities that can be found here.

They include Chinese, Indians, Czechs, Canadians, Australians, etc.

Like in any state they create their communities and national associations, wishing to preserve their native language and traditions.

Best Places to Live in Texas for Families

In the suburbs of

Houston and Dallas.

Half of the immigrants live in the suburbs of Houston and Dallas, since the central parts of these cities are most often occupied by commercial real estate.

The undoubted advantage of Texas compared to other states is low housing prices and the absence of income tax.

Houses and apartments in this region are considered the most affordable.

As my friends told me, in 2023 there will be a 4% increase in home prices across the US.

For now, Texas is still the best place to buy a home or rent property today.

The cost of housing varies – you can buy a budget house in the suburbs of megacities for $100,000.

Which City in Texas is Best to Raise a Family?

Dallas and Houston suburbs,southwest of

Austin in the Circle area,

San Antonio.

Lots of people live in the suburbs.

These are calm areas with middle-class rental prices.

When you move to Texas, better not settle in the center of a metropolis.

These areas are empty on weekends only and during the working days life here for families would be hard.

Middle-class rental prices here are half the price of the smallest house in California.

Austin is one of the most expensive

cities in Texas, but it has the best school from all Texas

.

But on the other hand, there is little unemployment, many vacancies, a beautiful city and a climate that is friendlier than other Texas cities.

Based on where it is cheaper to live for families, then San Antonio may be an option for you.

Many, especially families with school-age children, prefer to rent apartments somewhere in the suburbs of Houston, where life is very calm and measured and prices are low, but for my active friends it seemed too boring, so they took an apartment more expensive, but closer to the center and entertainment.

Education in Texas

The state has many medical institutions and research centers, and there are a number of large universities.

The universities are open for all students around the world.

The University of Texas at Austin

is a university with more than 50,000 students from fifty countries around the world.

Texas is famous for its excellent technical, humanitarian, medical and legal education.

What I really like about the Texas education system is that there are many opportunities for children’s sports – many Texas schools spend more on the development of sports than on general education subjects.

Texas Cities and Job

Before choosing a city where to move it also depends on whether you can find work there or not.

In Texas, there are good enough prospects for professionals in almost all areas.

Houston

It is most logical for oilmen to go to Houston, since here large oil companies are engaged in processing and exporting “black gold”.

In this city, engineers are also in demand, specializing in various fields: in mechanics, electrical, automation.

There are not enough local specialists, so many positions are occupied by foreigners with a work visa.

NASA’s Central Control Center

is located in Houston, as well as The Boeing Company, which develops manned spacecraft.

So there is an opportunity to find yourself in the field of space research.

In terms of living comfort, a few years ago, this city was one of the ten most affordable, but at the same time comfortable in the United States according to Forbes.

San Antonio

There are many medical institutions and research centers in this state.

For example, in the city of

San Antonio

there is a large cancer center.

Austin,Dallas

In these cities it will be easier to find a job as IT specialists in Texas than in California’s Silicon Valley.

In the state capital of Austin, there are representative offices of companies such as Oracle, eBay, NVidia, Zynga, Apple, PayPal, Polycom, and just to the north – IBM and Dell.

There are no less jobs for programmers in Dallas.

I think that Texas  is one of the best states to live in terms of comfort conditions  so we are considering moving to Texas soon, and closer  to our friends.
