What are the negatives of living in Ohio?

Extremely hot summer, brutal winter, and high poverty rate in some places are some negatives of living in Ohio.

Although there are many advantages of living in Ohio, there are some disadvantages too.

You should consider these few points before deciding whether to move to Ohio or not.

Extremely hot summers

In Ohio, summer can be extremely hot and humid.

Sometimes, it may even get to triple digits.

However, the heat is not really the problem but the combination of the heat and the humidity.

This extreme weather can lead to:

  • Torrential rain

  • Thunderstorms and

  • Tornadoes

Brutal winters

Winter in this state are just as bad and extreme as the summer season.

The winter lasts for about three months from December to around mid March and the daily weather recorded during this period is about 46 degrees and under.

If you’re a tourist, it is best to avoid the state during this time as there are hardly any activities you can engage in except indoor activities.

Also, since there are no mountains in this state, the cold wind that blows through the air is terrible.

Expect one month of snowfall during the rainfall with snow measuring up to 1 inch.

February particularly gets the most snowfall in Ohio.

High poverty in some areas

According to research, a study showed that nearly 13.

6% of the population in Iguo lived under the poverty line in 2020.

According to the United States Census Bureau report on the federal poverty income threshold in 2018, a family of four, two adults, and two children, who earned a combined annual income of less than $25,465 were considered to live in poverty.

This report showed further that this demographic group summed 140,000 candidates within the

state of Ohio

who were living in poverty.

Compared to the number of people living in Ohio, this result is very shocking and poor as the people who are living in poverty are meant to be the ones bringing most of the income in Ohio
