Acapulco Fashion Guide: What to Wear?

Everyone knows that Acapulco de Juarez is a resort town on the Pacific coast of Mexico, in the state of Guerrero.

What I understood after my trip to Mexico is that Acapulco never sleeps.

During the day, tourists spend time on the beaches, sailing on yachts and parasailing, and at night they flock to Costera Miguel Alemán Street, where they have fun and spend money on dance floors, casinos, and restaurants.

Is it safe to travel to Acapulco right now?

Yes. I examined the numbers of the Numbeo World Ranking and found that, unlike Venezuela, Honduras, Afrique du Sud, or Peru, Mexico is not among the 20 most criminal countries in the world in 2023.

But still, in crowded places, you need to be extremely careful and not carry valuables with you unnecessarily.

As I know, there are pickpockets hunt in public transport and shopping centers.

Nowadays, the city receives up to a million tourists annually, of which more than 600,000 are from America.

The city is famous for its vibrant nightlife. Tourists today are waiting for a lot of round-the-clock bars, nightclubs, discos, strip clubs, casinos, and other entertainment venues.

The Pie de la Cuesta lagoon, with its beautiful beaches, is the focus of resort life here.

On its banks, immersed in the greenery of palm trees, there are multi-star hotel complexes, restaurants, and villas of Mexican and foreign millionaires.

I think that this picturesque bay is one of the five most beautiful bays on the planet.

What to Wear in Acapulco

Take cotton or linen dresses embroidered with floral ornaments, white shirts and cotton pants, cozy and practical poncho capes, summer clothes in bright, saturated colors of exotic flora and a sunny climate, and do not forget about the wide-brimmed sombrero hat.

Acapulco is located in a tropical climate zone, thanks to which you do not need to care about your clothes all year round.

According to long-term observations, the sun in Acapulco shines 360 days a year.

Here, the climate is mild throughout all 12 months.

The average summer temperature is 86 degrees, and a light breeze blows.

Sometimes it rains, but the showers are short-lived.

The high season in Acapulco is winter.

From November to the end of April, the chance of rain is minimal.

The air warms up to a comfortable +79, the same temperature as the water in the ocean. It is this time that is considered the most favorable for tours in Acapulco.

My advice to you is: be sure to take sunscreen! In the summer, it is easier to burn out in the sun.

And also, as non-standard but very sensible advice, take a waterproof wallet.

In Mexico, as you know, theft is common, and in order not to leave money in the room (if there is no safe box), you can take it with you to the beach and even to the sea when you are swimming.

It may sound silly, but after one of my travels (when they stole 400 dollars), I began to do just that.

What To Wear In Summer In Acapulco?

Shorts with a T-shirt, dresses, or sundresses are the main clothes for summer.

In addition to beachwear, you must have a light hat, sunglasses, and insect repellent.

On the coast, you can walk in any swimsuit or just in a towel wrapped around your waist and a T-shirt.

However, such clothing is completely unacceptable for visiting local attractions, and even more so for churches.

What To Wear In Spring In Acapulco?

In Spring you can wear breathable clothing made of cotton or silk, light sneakers and panama.

If you want to look like a local, then, for bright, modern clothes, head to Senor Frog’s Official Store Acapulco.

It has an original design and is more like an entertainment center for children than a classic clothing store; here, customers are offered clothes for all occasions.

The store is sure to appeal to those who love unusual and practical things, as well as offering a favorable system of discounts for customers.

What To Wear In Fall In Acapulco?

Wear fleece and take jackets because fall in Mexico is both the continuation and the end of the rainy and hurricane season.

Therefore, I strongly recommend taking a light waterproof raincoat with a hood and an umbrella with you—the rain can take tourists by surprise at any moment!

What To Wear In Winter In Acapulco?

Wear a sweater or jacket for a cool evening.

Also, warm clothes will be needed for those who want to visit the mountainous or northern regions of the country in winter.

If you are going to Mexico during the winter, don’t forget to take an umbrella with you because it is a rainy season from November until April.

Tips for Packing for Acapulco

My Advice:Most of the tourists come here from America, and prices are oriented toward the American tourist, so you need to pack your suitcase very carefully and do not count on the fact that it is better to buy something on the spot.

Pay the most attention to the collection of documents: passports, insurance, tickets, and other necessary cards.

Before the trip, be sure to make photocopies of your passport, since it makes no sense to always carry them with you. It is enough to take photocopies.

Take several bank cards with you (preferably at least three).

The thing is that tourists often face the problem of having their bank cards blocked abroad.

If this happens with one card, another will provide insurance.

You need to take money not only on the card but also in cash (it is best to take dollars in bills of 50 and 100, since these bills are exchanged at the most favorable rate).

The Mexican mains voltage is only 110 volts, but for most appliances, this voltage will be enough, unless the hair dryer may refuse to work.

Take adapters for sockets with flat plugs with you so that you do not have to solve this problem on the spot later.

Beach accessories such as fins, snorkel masks, and everything else are also better to take with you.

Take only light things; you should not take anything warm, because even at night the weather is warm there.

You need to take a high-quality protective sunscreen with you and, in addition, a burn cream, as the local sun shines so strongly that sometimes even the best creams cannot protect the skin.

Shoes should be light; sandals or flip-flops are suitable. For long hikes or excursions, you need comfortable sports shoes, called sneakers.

If you plan to go to some restaurants, especially those located at five-star hotels, then they have a strict dress code for dinner: evening dresses and closed shoes for women, trousers and long-sleeved shirts for men.

When you go on a trip, pack your luggage and the highest-rated sunscreen.

It is necessary because the sun in Mexico is very aggressive.

Moreover, the cream must be used constantly, as soon as you find yourself on the street.

Do not neglect this advice so that your vacation is not ruined due to sunburn of the skin.

In addition to sunscreen, you should have your own first aid kit with the most necessary medicines. You can buy all these funds on the spot, but such a purchase will cost you more.

You should not take your entire home first aid kit with you, but a number of medicines will definitely not be superfluous.

Be sure to take drugs for indigestion, antipyretics, painkillers, and a bactericidal patch. I

If you use prescription drugs, then, in order to avoid problems at customs, it is better to clarify in advance whether they are allowed to be exported or not.

Essential Packing Dos and Don’ts for Your Acapulco Trip

Mexico is a distant country, so you need to prepare thoroughly for the trip so that there are no unpleasant surprises later.

Essential Packing Do’s

I think you need to take ordinary things like money, clothes, a camera, comfortable shoes, and hygiene items.

In addition, be sure to collect a first aid kit with painkillers, antivirals, antidiarrheal medications, and antihistamines, among others.

I would take a boiler; the water quality in some areas may not be very satisfactory. You can also grab some food familiar to our stomachs.

After all, if you immediately get hooked on the round-the-clock diet of Mexicans, your stomach may get sick.

People do not speak good English there; the local population speaks Spanish only, so I also recommend packing a phrasebook and learning a few dozen standard phrases.

Essential Packing Don’ts

You should not take a lot of medicines with you, but be sure to take a minimal first-aid kit because for some medicines, a prescription might be needed.

You need to take painkillers, activated charcoal, drugs for indigestion, cotton wool, a bandage, a band-aid, iodine, and wet wipes.

The voltage in Mexico is bad, and you shouldn’t take your equipment with you, but you should definitely take an adapter for flat sockets, which you will need to charge your phone and camera.
