The biggest graveyard in the UK is The London Necropolis, in Surrey.
Here I will share with you my experience around famous UK graveyards.
A lot of people float to see the remains of Richard III that were laid to rest at Leicester Cathedral.
This is currently one of the newest tourist attraction sites in the UK.
He was the last English king who had died in battle and his remains were found some years back under a car park before it was reburied in a ceremony that was of ‘great international significance’.
Since this reburial was done, there have been a boast in tourism in this part of the world.
Surprisingly, he was was re-interred
at Leicester Cathedral in central England
530 years after he was slain at the Battle of Bosworth Field in August, 1485.
What graveyard has the most famous people?
There are a lot of famous resting destinations all over the UK where people are currently coming to visit.
There is another famous grave site which is the Shakespeare’s grave that can be found in Holy Trinity Church in Stratford-upon-Avon.
Even though that William Shakespeare,was not only born and bred in the Warwickshire town of Stratford-upon-Avon, he was also laid to rest here,where he was also baptised.
His wife Anne Hathaway is buried alongside his supposedly cursed tomb.
Karl Marx is buried at Highgate Cemetery in London, and his grave has become one of the world’s most visited cemeteries.
We must tell you that more than 170,000 people buried within its grounds, Highgate Cemetery in the capital is one of the world’s most visited cemeteries.
Great people who were buried here include George Elliot, Herbert Spencer and Douglas Adams,
many famous people have their tombs at Highgate, the most visited is that of Karl Marx which reads: ‘Workers of all lands unite’.
There is another great man who was buried along with his third wife; we are talking about Henry VIII and his, Jane Seymour, at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.
History has it that he was the most notorious King and his legacy is also known around the world.
People who come here see that his remains have been cased within an underground vault, marked with a ledger stone on the floor of the chapel.
He is also portrayed within one of the stained glass windows in the chapel.

We can move over to where the kids’ nursery book character, Humpty Dumpty, has his own gravestone at St Mary’s Graveyard in Whitby.
