Hello Guys!

From previous articles about toll roads in the USA, everyone is familiar with SunPass.

It is an electronic toll system that is used on most toll roads in Florida.

Well, I think it is the best time to look closer at SunPass details…

How Does SunPass Mini Work?

The transponder transmits data using radio frequencies.

It works as an antenna.

When your car passes through the SunPass terminals, the fare is automatically debited from your electronic account, which must be charged before you start your journey.

SunPass transponders are available from local supermarkets, pharmacies, AAA South offices, and Amscot branches.

In order to open and fund a SunPass account, you need to register at sunpass.com and also charge your personal account.

In order for the transponder to work at the toll point or frame, there must always be enough money on the balance to pay the fare.

Device activation occurs up to 30 minutes after the funds are credited.

Does SunPass Mini Work for E-ZPass?

No, SunPass Mini does not work with E-ZPass.

SunPass Mini is compatible with toll roads and the majority of bridges in Florida, Georgia, Kansas, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and some parts of Texas.

SunPass Mini is compatible with toll roads and the majority of bridges.

Additionally, SunPass Mini can be used to pay for parking at Port Canaveral, the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, and the majority of Florida’s major airports.

Only SunPass PRO works where E-ZPass works and can be used in 19 states, including Florida, Georgia, Kansas, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and parts of Texas.

Can I Tape my SunPass Mini to my windshield?

The device must be taped to the windshield, and it will be read by an antenna installed at the toll station or the toll frame.

Can I Use a SunPass Mini on a Rental Car?

As a rule, if you are renting a car, the companies have installed transporters.

In general, there is an agreement between rental offices (for example, Alamo) and the services that charge tolls on the roads, so there should not be any fines from road owners.

But!

If you don’t take a special device (a transponder) at the office itself when renting a car, then the rental offices themselves take the fine for using toll roads (if you could not pay them on the spot in cash or by card).

They profit from the ignorance of tourists.

Therefore, in order not to get fined, I recommend clarifying all issues related to paying for roads directly at the office of the rental company.

I think you can even show them your route so that they can advise which option of paying for roads will be more profitable for you.

Unfortunately, SunPass mini cannot be used for different vehicles.

But if you have a portable device like SunPass Pro, you have a solution.

If, for some reason, a rental car does not have a transponder, here is what you have to do:

To add a rental car to your SunPass account, follow these steps:

  • Open your SunPass account and log in.
  • Go to “Transponders and Vehicles” and click.
  • Click “Add Another Vehicle” and complete the form’s fields.
  • Add the start and end dates and times.
  • Verify the box for the rental car.
  • Choose “Add Vehicle.”

Does SunPass Mini Have a Battery?

No, SunPass Mini does not have a battery because it is not a portable transponder.

Since the SunPass Mini sticker lacks a battery, it is silent and makes no sound.

A brand-new portable transponder without batteries is available, and they are currently $25.

How Do I Recharge My SunPass Mini?

Can I Transfer my SunPass Mini to Another Car?

No.

The SunPass Mini Transponder cannot be transferred because once it is removed from the windshield of a vehicle,it will not work anymore.

But if you want to give it to a different person, you have to switch the ownership of a transponder between accounts.

The SunPass website or mobile app, mail or fax, walk-in center, or phone call to the SunPass Customer Service Center are all acceptable ways for both account holders to give their approval.

Can I Move my SunPass Mini?

No, it is not allowed.

You cannot carry or transfer the SunPass Mini Sticker Transponder from one place to another.

The interior of the windshield must be firmly attached for it to function because the windshield serves as an antenna.

Where Should I Place my SunPass Mini?

Locate it close to the rear mirror with a sticky background so you will see your SunPass transponder number.

Do You Have to Stick the SunPass Mini on a Windshield?

Yes, just below a tint strip.

It is a very easy process, but if you do it incorrectly, your SunPass mini might not work.

Just follow these simple steps:

Take your SunPass Mini and peel the background (white sticker).

The sticky part will be attached to the windshield, close to the mirror.

Find a clear spot (like an inch or two below a tint strip) and gently apply it there with a sticky surface.

Now you can drive safely on toll roads.

Does the SunPass Mini go on the Inside or outside?

Inside!

How Does SunPass Mini Work?

It is a popular question, as when you buy SunPass transponders, they have a huge list of instructions, but nowhere can you find pictures of how to correctly put this sticker on.

Clean the inside of the windshield.

Peel off the clear liner from the back.

Apply the mini to the interior windshield behind, slightly below, or to the side of the rear view mirror, but not on the tint stripe!

The mini sticker must be permanently applied to the windshield, or it will now work as a windshield that acts as an antenna.
