Both are almost the same.
Both of these prepaid toll collection methods are widely used in Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina.
Using RFID technology, both systems let you pay the toll fees automatically as you move through the toll lane.
The RFID scanners placed at the toll lanes detect vehicles and automatically collect the toll fee.
The user’s prepaid account is used to deduct the fee.
E-PASS and SunPass offer discounts on toll roads in Central Florida.
There is only one slight difference:
E-Pass is cheaper to get than SunPass.

Is SunPass the Same as EPass?
Actually, Yes.
Although, they are two different products, but on most toll roads, E-PASS and SunPass are interchangeable.
They operate identically, registering the same tolls.
“SunPass Only” signs on state highways mean that other transponders from Lee County, E-PASS, and other states are all accepted.
If you live in Florida,Georgia, or North Carolina, then any of these transponders will be suitable for you.
E-Pass is accepted almost everywhere SunPass is accepted.
Is EPass Separate from SunPass?
Yes, they are two different transporters…
The Florida Department of Transportation developed SunPass as a prepaid toll collection system for the purpose of collecting tolls inside the state of Florida in the United States.
It is controlled by Florida’s Turnpike Electronic Payment System.
E-PASS is also another expressway authority’s electronic toll collection system.
The Central Florida Expressway Authority is responsible for issuing and managing the ETC system in Florida, known as E-Pass.
With E-Pass, you drive through the toll roads and express lanes in Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina, while SunPass works only on the toll roads and most toll bridges in Florida.

EPass is cheaper; it is free!
The E-Pass toll sticker is free of charge, and it can be sent to car owners in advance after ordering online.
After you get it and activate it, it’s only $10 to activate the prepaid account.
EPass gives their transponder toll stickers for free because they don’t want to sell them 100% above cost in retail shops.
While the SunPass toll sticker is $4.99.
E-Pass and SunPass customers pay no monthly fees, and the account never expires.
Can I Use Both SunPass and EPass?
No,you might be charged from the RFID scanners on two accounts.
Do I Need to Buy a SunPass?
Yes.
If you constantly have to wait in line to get on a toll road, then purchasing a SunPass pass may be the most profitable solution for you.
By purchasing this pass, you will be able to bypass all ticket offices on toll roads such as the Dolphin Expressway, Florida Turnpike, etc.
without stopping.
You will also be able to use the express road to I-95.
Moreover, SunPass saves you money in the long run because you pay less than regular drivers.
If you, nevertheless, decide to “save money” and not take passes, you, of course, can pass through the turnstiles.
But then you’ll be fined $100 plus any fees due, and in some cases, legal fees will be waived, and you may even face suspension of your driver’s license.
If you rent a car from an agency, you have two options:

The fare on a toll road without a transponder is made up of 3 parts: fare, postage, and the order receipt processing fee.
Example: I drove over the Sun Pass toll bridge in Florida; the fare was 50 cents; the car was on Maryland plates; the letter came in 2 months and paid 2.50; the rental office added another $10 for handling and payment.
Can I Pay for SunPass With EPass?
No, they are two different products, and their accounts cannot be the same.
Or, you can get it at a service center when you are in Florida and pick up a free toll sticker.
Does Publix Sell Epass or SunPass?
Publix sells SunPass transponders.
In Florida, there are thousands of retail shops where you can purchase a SunPass transponder, including Publix, CVS, and Walgreens.
If you have a local driving license and a bank card, you can apply for a Sun Pass online at www.sunpass.com.
After that, replenish your account, for example, by $15–20 (depending on the frequency of your trips) and drive calmly.

As for E-Pass, you can get it online or at a service center.
