I know that searching for better career opportunities is among the reasons Black Americans migrate from one place to the other.

For a long time, Atlanta has topped the list of the states Black Americans migrate to.

Coming behind Atlanta are other southern states like Dallas, Charlotte, N.C., Orlando, Fla., Raleigh, N.C., Columbia, S.C., Houston, and many others.

Before now, the cultural and family bonds that exist among Blacks that live together in any community have been obvious.

However, likely, more of the Black Americans who are relocating out of the South will still return compared to the whites who are migrating out of the south within the same period.

The migrant Black Americans still maintain contact with their families and maintain their kinship networks.

This is a factor that promotes further migration.

Carolina Core, NC

Carolina Core had a prosperous manufacturing, textile, and tobacco past.

It is a humble region in North Carolina that gives Black Americans the opportunity to benefit from the multi-billion-dollar ongoing transformation which is aimed at massive developments for its downtown centers and local areas.

Carolina Core is centrally located between Charlotte and the Raleigh-Durham area.

The region is more than 120 miles and has many other mid-sized cities like Greensboro, Winston Salem, and High Point.

It is easy for entrepreneurs and professionals to access North Carolina’s fast-growing cities.

These cities have their unique features, cheap accommodations, and lots of lifestyle activities for the less than 40 communities.

The region has top industries, in the areas of aerospace, biomedical, technology, and entrepreneurship.

It has more than 30 colleges and universities such as top-rated HBCUs North Carolina A&T and Winston-Salem State University.

Charleston, SC

There are many innovative companies in Charleston.

The companies major in aerospace, automotive, infotech, and logistics.

Charleston not only has dynamic startup culture in the city, but also career opportunities that are available at multinational corporations like Boeing, Bosch, and Volvo.

To show its accountability for diversity in hiring Boeing made its workforce demographics public in 2021.

The company plans to increase the number of blacks in its employment list by 20% within the next five years.

Charleston is known as a city with a friendly business climate.

Its commitment to DE&I embraces its progressive VC community also.

There is a new venture fund in Charleston called HI Mark Capital which is aiming to raise $15 million for businesses owned by blacks, browns, women, and other groups that are not well represented in the Southeast.

According to Herbert Drayton, managing partner, the business community of Charleston is warm, inviting, progressive, and genuine.

Networking is perfect in the area.

Cincinnati, OH

Cincinnati is strategically located between the Midwest and the Ohio River.

It is a gateway to the region.

The city is home to six companies out of Fortune 500 companies which include P&G and Kroger.

It also has over $1.5 billion in budgeted for redevelopment and new construction of its downtown areas.

With its emerging strengths in manufacturing, financial services, healthcare, startups, food and beverage, and arts and culture, the city is proving to be well-connected.

The city’s diverse population and its innovative DE&I approaches to growing and expanding economic opportunities for all its citizens are the forces behind its blooming business.

Colorado Springs, CO

U.S.

News and World Report ranked Colorado Springs as the best place someone can live in America.

According to a poll by Smart Asset in 2021, it is among the top 25 cities where Black Americans are economically prosperous.

Many people see the city as a perfect destination for those who want to start a career and those who love to live an outdoor lifestyle.

The city features a beautiful Pikes Peak region close to the Rocky Mountains.

The Colorado Springs Black Business Network is a group that helps to create an enabling business environment for Black business professionals and business owners.

They engage in personal, and community empowerment of the blacks in the city, and help the 28-year-old Colorado Springs Black Chamber of Commerce in the expansion of resources.

There are popular and prosperous local Black-owned businesses in Colorado Springs such as 3E’s Comedy Club, Four by Brother Luck, The Men’s Xchange, and Beauty Bar.

There are also other local companies to support all over the city.

Jacksonville, FL

Jacksonville is the city with the most African Americans in the state of Florida.

DCI described it as a city with much to offer its black community.

The cost of living in Jacksonville is 17% below the national average.

That is why in 2022 Zillow called it the city with the second-hottest real estate market.

It has been revealed by a recent study as the 4th most popular market for investors in America.
