Menhir of St.
Uzec
A huge Menhir Menhir of St.
Uzec is located in Pleumeur Bodou is one of the most famous tourist attractions.
This was found during 5000 to 2000 BC and was considered as a historical monument since 1889.
The weight of the Menhor is 80 tons and the height is almost 6 meters long.
One third of what is visible now is in the ground as well.
So the height of this Menhir is much more than what it is now.
The paintings on the Menhir was painted during the 17
th
or the 18
th
century and the Menhir, which you get to see now does not have those old paintings.
When the Menhir painting was clearly visible, then there was a moon and also women standing with her hands folded.
You can also see a sun as part of the painting.
Many people believe that women which was painted on the Menhir is the Virgin Mary.
More than half of the painting is erased now and you will not get the clear image of the actual painting.
