Tennessee is a state what is located in the south of America with many tourist attractions that draw many thousands of tourists.

However, one of the most significant features of the state is its waterfalls. Tennessee may not be many people’s dream vacation destination. What if I tell you that the landlocked southern state has been blessed immensely by Mother Nature?

Although I miss the coastal world when I visit Tennessee, but it has waterfalls, rivers, and lakes.  I believe the waterfalls make up for the absence of soft sandy beaches.

If there is one location that makes it more exciting for me to visit, it is the Fall Creek Falls State Park waterfalls.

I spend my day hiking around this park filled with loads of activities.

Can you swim at Fall Creek Falls?

Yes.

Fall Creek Falls has a public swimming pool you can use for your water activities.  The Olympic-sized pool has become a favorite place for people who love swimming.

In addition,  the park has kid’s pool and modern bathhouses for relaxation. The snack bar helps me quench hunger whenever I am done swimming and hiking.

I feel safer because the pool is ADA compliant and lifeguards stay on duty to ensure everyone is not in trouble.

The small  beach for kids give parents an opportunity to have quiet time, while their kids swim.  I suggest you join people jump into the water from a huge rock formation. The thrill of making this jump is what makes the swimming exciting.

The lowest point of this pool is 3 feet, while the maximum depth is around 7 feet. However, I recommend that you begin from the lowest point to the deepest point.  Sometimes, I take a leave from the waterfalls for a secluded adventure at the wading pools some distance from the Cane Creek Gorge.

While some people come here for the same reason you have, but the solitude is something I don’t trade for anything.

Facts About The Fall Creek Falls

  • Fall Creek Falls State Park has become the Tennessee’s largest park with over 26,000 acres.
  • The park is located in the eastern part of the state.

  • It offers some of the best hiking trails in the state.
  • The falls has gurgling creeks, gorgeous waterfalls, and stunning gorges in the Cumberland Plateau.
  • It offers primitive cabins and sites for camping adventures

I prefer staying at the local inn whenever I visit the park because of the unique experience.  I can relax and watch the natural grandeur of the park.

Things to Do in Fall Creek Falls

Coming to Fall Creek Falls offers me endless activities in many destinations.  I love the Cascade Waterfall bathing area, where I allow the waterfall to hit me during bathing.

Nearby is the Betty Dunny Nature Center for a natural unwinding, away from Tennessee’s bustling activities.

I don’t cross the suspension bridge, but find my way right before heading down the stairs to get the best of falls.  I didn’t know about this spot until a friend brought me through this route.

I can play around with loved ones beneath the waterfall.  When I am full of energy, I can jump off the cliff and drop inside the water.

At the foot of the waterfalls lies the Cane Creek Gorge pool, which is large and has activities around it. However, I have to climb a short distance to access the pool.  I suggest you bring along a change of shoes and clothes for your swimming and hiking.

Above the pool, you can watch the steep cliffs and I bet you don’t want to miss this vintage point.

Can you cliff jump at Fall Creek Falls?

No.

Jumping from the Fall Creek Falls is dangerous and illegal because its 256 feet high.  The jump may seem like you hitting concrete when you enter the water.

Every year people attempt this cliff jump. Some jumpers has suffered injuries while others have to be rescued.

I think the water levels are reducing and jumping from that height is daring and scary. Let me paint the picture. Fall Creek Falls is the tallest waterfall you can find on the eastern part of the Mississippi.

The height is not something I can imagine trying to jump. I can jump from the smaller heights beneath the waterfall.

How many waterfalls are at Fall Creek Falls?

Six.

Fall Creek Falls have six waterfalls.  As a result, you have many waterfalls to explore before you leave the park. The waterfalls include:

  • Piney Creek Falls, which is a 95-foot waterfall
  • Coon Creek Falls
  • Rockhouse Falls
  • Cane Creek Cascades
  • Cane Creek Falls .

Fall Creek Falls is the most impressive by height and one of the tallest in the United States.

I will mentioned other impressive waterfalls in the state

 Twin Falls

If you want to see a waterfall that  is impressive by volume, you should come to Twin Falls. I often hike to this fall because it is nearby when I visit the Fall Creek Falls.

At 80 feet high, Twin Falls is situated at the Rock Island State Park . You will find the waterfall at the confluence of the Caney Fork and Collins rivers.

Cummins Falls

Cummunis Falls has the best pool in the state. I have not visit this waterfall, but it is one of the most pictureque.

It offers visitors a swimming hole below its 75-foot drop. Maybe, its rugged hiking has discouraged me from visiting. In addition, kids are not advised to visit this popular spot that attracts many tourists daily.

Foster Falls

Foster Falls is the easiest to visit. It takes me barely 45 minutes drive to reach the South Cumberland State Park.

I take the Fiery Gizzard Trail that offers me an easy half-mile hike to the waterfall, which is home to some amazing creatures.

Virgin Falls

I don’t think I will visit the Virgin Falls State Natural Area, which is outside Sparta. To see the fall, I must undertake a strenuous 9-mile hike for nine hours.

If you want to see the 110 feet Falls that drops into a sinkhole and into another cave, Virgin Falls is for you.

Burgess Falls

Burgesse Falls is the most impressive falls I have ever seen. Located at Burgess Falls State Park, and offers a series of falls plunge more than 250 feet into a gorge.
