South Bethany Beach

For people who enjoy staying in a vacation rental or prefer a smaller crowd, South Bethany is highly recommended.

With a population of less than 500 people, South Bethany is located just between Bethany and Fenwick Island, between the sun and the bay.

This beach is laid back, peaceful and very calm unlike other areas with more crowds.

The good thing about this beach is that it is still close enough for you to visit these crowded areas during the day.

So, you can easily come here for solitude and to relax.

Broadkill Beach Attractions

People who are very enthusiastic about nature will definitely love Broadkill Beach.

Some of the attractions in Broadkill Beach are the horseshoe crab sanctuary surrounded by the Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge and Plum Island Nature Preserve.

Since Broadkill Beach is unincorporated, many of the restrictions which are enforced on more popular beaches in the South do not apply on Broadkill Beach.

For instance,

  1. Dogs, alcohol, and bonfires are permitted on Broadkill Beach.
  2. no fees are needed to access the beach.

However, you may not be able to find some of the conveniences which are provided on more popular beaches.

Some of the downsides of going to Broadkill beach include:

  1. There are no lifeguards
  2. No trash removal.

During the peak season, trash has become a very big issue and this is continually increasing as the beach gains more popularity

  3. There is only one general store available in the area.

The Broadkill Store is the only general store where you can get snacks, groceries and buy sandwiches

  4. There are no public showers or bathroom provided
  5. There is limited parking

Before deciding on spending time in Broadkill Beach, it is important to have knowledge of what you are signing up for.

If you prefer beaches where these amenities are provided and easy to access, make sure you plan ahead or simply can opt for a beach further south
