Therefore, I will allow you to make your decision after reading this article.

Lewes vs Rehoboth Beach

Geographically, Lewes

Beach and Rehoboth

Beach are eight miles apart and make up the two major municipalities that dominate 28 miles that stretch along the Delaware seashore.

Quaint Lewes hosts its historic preservation and colonial and maritime past.

Many of the

people who visit Lewes Beach

go to the antique stores and museums to explore the beautiful history of the town as well as the dockside restaurants.

On Independence Day, there are an annual parade of boasts festooned with red, white and blue down the Lewes-Rehoboth canal to Fisherman’s Wharf.

On the other hand,

Rehoboth beach

is the most classic beach in the region with its beautiful cottages surrounded by shady pines.

Rehoboth beach

also has a mile-long boardwalk which is lined with a lot of treats and amusements that will definitely keep you occupied during your stay.

There is a quieter enclave of upscale dining and historic clapboard houses adjacent to Lewes beach.

Rehoboth Beach

Rehoboth beach is also known to be more accommodating

to LGBTQ.

This is more common in popular spots like:

  • Poodle Beach, at the boardwalk’s southern end and

  • at Cape Henlopen State Park,

  • North Shores Beach and

  • Gordons Pond.

Junction & Breakwater and Gordons Pond are the two popular walking and biking trails that connect Rehoboth and Lewes.

The Cape Henlopen State Park in Lewes provides visitors with natural beaches and a peaceful environment.

If you’re thinking of a great

beach where your little kids

can have a great time, Rehoboth beach has Funland, a 56-year-old amusement park and arcade on the boardwalk.

Some of the most popular beach resorts in the state are quite close to Keees.

There are also several state parks in both neighboring Virginia and Maryland, and Delaware.

One prominent thing that Southern Delaware is known for is its great fishing and surfing.

There are also many thrilling historical attractions that date back to more than two centuries to even the time of the revolutionary war.

Surprisingly, Lewes played a very vital role in the nation’s defence during World War II.

On the day after Pearl Harbor was attacked, the U.

S.

Coast Guard started building one of the most formidable, heavily armed coastal defense forts in the country.

Fort Miles, perched atop the dunes at Cape Henlopen and it cost $24 million.

It was designed using several gun installments which were powerful enough to attack the strongest ships in the German navy fleet.

Today, there is a museum in one of the underground bunkers which tells the stories of the submarine warfare off the coast.

In this museum, visitors can walk up to the tip of a restored observation tower comfortably and see how soldiers made use of triangulation to track suspicious ships and submarines in the ocean and bay.

The concrete used in building the tower was made using beach sand and was predicted to last for about ten years.

However, they are still standing up to this very moment.

Since then, Lewes still commands its prime position on Delaware Bay.

The city has a growing health care industry, and its vibrant economy capitalizes on its location.

Among visitors and locals, museums, retail stores, restaurants, and outdoor activities are quite common.

Lewes may be the oldest city in the state, but it continuously ranks among the top lovable towns in Delaware.

What I Think

Since I will not be making a choice for you, here is my conclusion about the two destinations.

Lewes was the site of the first European settlement.

It has many historical landmarks and

museums to visit in the city

, along with open spaces and family attractions.

On the other hand, Rehoboth Beach is known for its specialty stores, amusements,  award-winning boardwalk, awesome hotels, beautiful homes, tax-free shopping and finest restaurants.
