Quick answer: road trip bingo is a 5 × 5 card of things to spot from the car (a tractor, a bridge, a police car) with a free square in the middle. Mark each one you see, and the first to fill a row, column or diagonal wins. The generator above makes a different card for every player, in pictures for kids who can’t read yet or in words, and prints two cards to a page. The license plate game is here too: tap each state as you spot its plate.
How to use it
Pick a theme (highway, city, beach, airport or winter), pictures or words, and how many players. Every card in the set is different, so no two kids race for the same squares. Play on a phone by tapping squares, or press Print for two cards to a page. The set number on each card and the link bring back exactly the same cards, handy when the printout gets lost under a seat. New cards deals a fresh set.
The themes
| Theme | Things to spot | A few of them |
|---|---|---|
| Highway | 36 | Big truck, tractor, cow, bridge, gas station, road work |
| City | 36 | Taxi, skyscraper, crosswalk, crane, fountain, street musician |
| Beach | 36 | Seagull, crab, sandcastle, surfer, kite, banner plane |
| Airport | 36 | Plane taking off, suitcase, boarding pass, control tower, baggage cart |
| Winter | 36 | Snowman, sled, snowplow, deer, holiday lights, icicle |
A card uses 24 of a theme’s 36, so each card has a different mix.
The license plate game
Switch to License plates and tap a state on the map when you see its plate; tap again to undo. There are 51 to find: the 50 states and Washington, DC. Your list stays on your phone between stops, and the copied link carries it too, so you can send “we found 31 license plates” to the family group chat. On a phone the map turns into an A–Z grid so every state is big enough to tap.
Ways to play
- Blackout: keep going until the whole card is marked. Good for a long day on the interstate.
- Four corners: only the four corner squares count. A quick round for a short drive.
- Teams: one card per side of the car, and only things on your side count.
- License plates by region: the East Coast is quick; Hawaii and Alaska are the rare ones.
Plan the drive
