Chicago, the third most populous city of United States is one of the best places in the world to spend holidays.

The great infrastructure, dazzling waterfront and lively nightlife are the three main things that tempt countless tourists every day.

Lush green parks and beautiful beaches are like boon for every person who intends to spend his holidays in Chicago.

This energetic city would fill your mind and body with undying energy and you will fall in love with its ambiance. Chicago will make your holidays very entertaining and worthwhile. I always wished to see this great city ever since my college days.

I remember that it was the last day of our college life when my three best friends and I planned to visit Chicago. It was perhaps the best decision that we had ever made and we had fantastic one week holidays in Chicago.

We wanted to enjoy the best of Chicago and that is why we decided to make a list of places that we didn’t want to miss at any cost. We had included all the famous theaters, buildings, beaches, parks and museums.

Theaters and performing arts

Chicago is famous for its art theaters and performing arts. You can engage yourself in watching many different performances like opera and ballet dance. The melodious music of this city would impart a harmony to your holidays.

We had read very much about the excellence of its theaters; so we decided to start our holidays in Chicago with watching a show at the Million Dollar Quartet. It is considered as one of the best theaters of Chicago.

It was Thursday and we had reached in the evening. So, we booked our tickets for the Thursday night show.

This was a perfect start to our holidays. The show was simply awesome. From story to the music; everything was superb.

We enjoyed every single moment of the show and had a great time. I recommend this theater to everyone who is planning to spend his vacations in Chicago. Try to attend the night shows to make your night rocking.

So let’s start our journey with three things Chicago is known for:

Holidays in Chicago

The Millennium Park.

The next day, we started with our visit to Cloud Gate. It’s a public sculpture which is the center of attraction of Millennium Park.

It is a public park situated in Loop Community area. We were hoping to see a masterpiece of architecture and this place didn’t disappoint us.

Actually, it was beyond our expectations and we were amazed to see its structure and luster. The brilliance of the Cloud gate’s architecture cannot be described in words. It can just be felt and enjoyed and that is exactly what we did at this place. We enjoyed watching the outstanding structure of cloud gate.

Holidays in Chicago

The cloud gate has been nicknamed as ‘The Bean’ because its shape is somewhat similar to a bean. Its architecture has been inspired from liquid mercury and it is made up of high quality stainless steel. The reflection of surroundings looks mind-blowing on it. It looks as if everything is floating on the huge bean of stainless steel.

This magnificent creativity amazed us thoroughly. We were so impressed that we visited here again in the evening. The Cloud gate looks miraculous in the evening.

The floodlights of the surrounding buildings when reflect on its surface; it seems as if all the stars from the sky have got studded on its surface.

You must not miss the opportunity to see the glory of the Cloud Gate when you visit Chicago. Try to visit here in the evening because it looks even more stunning at that time.

Holidays in Chicago

Garfield Park Conservatory

Our next halt was Garfield Park Conservatory. It is one of the largest parks of the city and a great place to relax your mind. The staff of Garfield Park Conservatory is very friendly and they have managed this place very well.

The setting of this park will surely impress you. This beautiful park offers different types of tours which include self-guided tour, field trips and conservatory tours. We saw some school students exploring this park.

We were there on a self-guided tour and being in this park was a very pleasant experience. We got to see a large variety of flora and fauna. It was very interesting to know about the history of some lovely flowers and trees.

A stroll along the greenhouses was the best part of our visit. If you are a nature lover then do visit this park to feel yourself closer to nature.

It’s a great place to soak your mind with calm beauty and to fill your eyes with lovely views of colorful flower beds.

We took two hours to explore every corner of this gorgeous park and it was a very pleasant experience.

Holidays in Chicago

All of us had the desire to see Chicago city since many years and we were enjoying being in our favorite holiday destination.

We all were very keen to see the bird eye view of Chicago. With the help of internet, we got to know about John Hancock Center which is famous for the panoramic views of Chicago. Without any second thought, we head off for this place.

My friends and I were very excited and we all were looking forward for some wonderful views. We had also decided to see the sunset views from this observatory. John Hancock Center is the heart of Chicago. This 100-story skyscraper is the fourth tallest building of Chicago and sixth tallest building of the United States.

The 95th floor of this building is home to a fabulous restaurant. And also the main attraction “John Hancock Observatory” is situated on this floor.

A trip to Chicago is incomplete without visiting this awesome observatory. You can see mind-blowing views of Chicago city and Lake Michigan from here.

This place was far ahead of our expectations. The spectacular views of Chicago blew us away. Watching sunset from this spot was probably one of the most beautiful moments of my life.

As the sun bid farewell, Chicago started showing its colorful nightlife. The buildings of the city got drenched with colorful floodlights and it was the most colorful and sparkling view that I have ever observed anywhere around the world.

It won’t be wrong if I say that we saw the most beautiful incarnation of Chicago. Don’t miss this place whenever you visit Chicago. You will fall in love with the views offered by this observatory.

Another ‘must visit’ place of our list was Lake Michigan. It was our last day in Chicago and we wanted to make it special and Lake Michigan was the best place to realize this zeal. It is the most dazzling lake among the five great lakes of North America.

Also, it is the second largest in terms of Volume and area wise third largest lake among the Great lakes.

We knew all these facts but still we felt that it was very huge than we had imagined it to be. The fresh breeze from the Lake filled us with numinous vigor and we got all set to enjoy our last day in Michigan.

It has many beaches to have fun and to enjoy the best of beautiful ambiance. After seeing its beaches, I would say that Chicago is a great place to take pleasure of Beach holidays. The soft and white sand on its beaches look awesome.

These sands are often referred as ‘singing sands’ because they generate sounds when someone walks on it. Walking on the beautiful white singing sand was a delight in itself. We enjoyed our full day outing at Lake Michigan and ended our travel to Chicago with scenic sunset views at Grand Traverse Point.

The time that we spent in Chicago was the ever-best time of my life and same is the case with my friends.

We still sit together to recall those wonderful memories. The beauty of charm of Chicago is incomparable. I recommend you to visit this awesome city to have your best holidays.
