Driving to the

Florida Keys

via Florida’s Overseas Highway from Key Largo is one of the best ways to have a good time during my trip.

How long does it take to drive the length of the Florida Keys?

You’ll get to see what makes Florida, Florida and discover different places along the way.

It takes over three hours to drive through the Overseas

Highway without any stops

but wouldn’t that be a boring trip?

Road trips are more enjoyable with the intentional stops along the way to discover new places, taste some of the amazing food in these places and even take a lot of pictures while you’re at it.

How long does it take to drive the length of the Florida Keys?

It can take you at least three hours to drive across the 113 mile.

Why will you want to take such a long ride when you can fly within 45 minutes?

For instance, when I  drive down

Florida’s Overseas Highway to Key West

, I enjoy the blend of chic joie de vivre and eccentric bohemia.

Below is a list of some of the best

parts of the Florida

Keys:

Key West

Key West is a stunning island city which is known for its soft hues, conch style cottages, unending nightlife, stunning beaches and watersports.

This city is located in southwestern Florida within the continental United States.

Key Weat lies about 100 miles from the mainland on a sand and coral island about 4 miles long and 1.

5 miles wide in the western Florida Keys.

Key Largo

Key Largo is an

island in the upper Florida

Keys archipelago.

Located South of Homestead with a detour to Card Sound road, this is a great place to relax and unwind.

While you’re here, you should definitely check out Alabama Jack’s especially if you’re new in the jare.

This lively waterside seafood

restaurant is famous for its critters and has been the unofficial welcome wagon to Florida Keys since 1947

.

Moreso, after your visit to Alabama Jack’s, you can cruise over Card Sound Bridge to John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park located at mile marker 102.

5.

Here, you’ll get to discover the amazing marine life in the park.

On a guided snorkelling tour, you’ll also get to see the 360 mile

Florida Reef Tract which is the only existing coral barrier reef in North America

.

You can rent kayaks and paddle through miles of wilderness trails lined with mangroves.

After your time out in

Key Largo

, you can check into Baker’s Cay Resort, a beachfront hotel that promises a comfortable and amazing vacation experience.

Can you turn around on 7 Mile Bridge?

When I drive over the 7 mile bridge, it can take me at least an hour to reach Key West.

I often stop at a small park after the bridge to stretch my legs.

How long does it take to cross the bridge to Key West?

Crossing one end of the seven mile bridge to the other takes about ten minutes.

Don’t be in a hurry though as you’ll come across some of the finest views in

Florida Keys during your tour along the seven mile bridge

.

The Florida Keys offers you an opportunity to have a great holiday destination.

In addition , the Keys have become home  to many marine lives.

Here is what you should know before you take a ride across it.

  • In the Florida Keys, you can find at least 800 keys, and these keys  stretch over 180 miles.

  • You will find at least 42 bridges that link all the Florida Keys islands.

Furthermore, the Seven Mile Bridge is the longest at 35,716 feet long.

The  bridges link the mainland of Florida to the Florida Keys, while Harris Gap Bridge is the shortest and measures only 37 feet in length.

  • Key West is located in the southernmost city in the country, and is closer to Havana, Cuba than Miami.

This means that I can travel to Cuba from

    Key West

, which is barely 90 miles away.

  • If you want to visit one of the world’s premier sports fishing destination, you can visit the Florida Keys.

However, you may not visit the Queen Conch because it is prohibited.

Key West is embedded in its century-old mansions and narrow palm-shaded streets, and it has  decorated wooden scrollwork or gingerbread.

I can leave the mainland and ride across the entire length of the highway.

In less than four hours, I can move through all the

Keys to Key West

.

I drive at a more leisure pace when I take this car ride.

I often stop along the road for seafood and sometimes, buy galleries.

On the other hand, it take can me around 13 hours to drive the length of Florida, but it’s a lot more

fun because I  plan a list of things

to do during this trip.

I believe these car rides have given me a reason to love Florida and find some of the hidden places in the state.
