Where Does South Florida Start?

Some of my friends see the Florida Keys and Greater Miami as South Florida, but others believe that other parts of Florida should be included in the South Florida region.

The places I think should be seen as the South Florida region are the southern parts of Tampa Bay, Southwest Florida and its cities, and the Treasure Coast.

Where does

South Florida

Start?

I can say that it begins in Broward County.

If you want to know if a place is in South Florida, you have to study all the parts of Florida state and know what qualifies a place to be seen as South Florida.

It sounds funny that in Central Florida the more Southern you go the more north it is.

Fun Thing About South Florida

Music is the best way to identify South Florida.

However, this is made difficult by the Florida state.

It is complicated to define Florida music because the state chooses artists to embrace rules that can not be easily understood.

Where <a href=

Not all the acts that do not have the features of the south are seen as coming from Florida.

Tom Petty is from Gainesville, and Jim Morrison is from Brevard County

but lives in Tallahassee

.

The two men are seen as pro-Los Angeles.

Pitbull made up his mind to be un-Southern, known as Mr.

Worldwide.

Jimmy Buffett, a non-native of Florida, has become an adopted son of the state just because he plays the southern kind of music that attracts many people to the chain restaurants known as Margaritaville.

A lot of Southern

rock music’s come from North Florida

.

Jacksonville produced the Allman Brothers Band and made the hard-rock band Molly Hatchet popular.

After that came the Limp Bizkit band, but it was grossly a bad band.

What can be said about the southern part of the state?

Where Does South Florida Start?

Florida is divided into different regions like the Panhandle, Central Florida, South Florida, and North Florida.

   South Florida begins in Broward

County

and moves through Monroe County and Miami-Dade County.

Therefore, the three counties are the Southeastern tip of the Florida Peninsula, Florida Keys, and the Everglades.

Meanwhile, South

Florida has a true tropical climate compared to other parts

of Florida.

South Florida can be referred to as a nebulous term.

What do I mean?

Florida is in the southern part of the country, which means it is a southern state.

Broward County

Broward County lies on

Florida’s east coast

, roughly rectangular and ranging from Deerfield Beach to Hallandale beach.

The Coastal Broward Country is urban with cities like Hollywood, Pompano Beach, and Fort Lauderdale, and ends near US 27 and the Sawgrass Expressway.

On the other hand, the rest of the country is rural for those who want a quiet lifestyle.

Miami-Dade County

Miami-Dade County is a popular place in Florida, especially

Miami that has become the quintessential South

Florida city.

Whether you want to shop, tour museums, enjoy Cuban cuisine, or live an adventurous life, this county is for you.

Monroe County

Monroe County is the continental United States, and the southernmost county in the state.

Meanwhile, many Monroe Country are uninhabited and wild, especially in peninsular Monroe County.

You can come here by land, sea, or air.

The county is the largest county in Florida by area,

Florida Way of Life

Since it is impossible to say what exactly Florida’s culture is, it is very difficult to say that Florida’s culture is definitively Southern.

That delicious Florida

food you eat may be the Cuban food you see at Versailles in Miami.

It can be the alligator tail caught in the swamps of St.

Augustine.

It can also be a Florida chicken sandwich outside the President’s Hall at Disney.

There is one other thing that keeps the people of Florida in unity besides the weather and the agreement that no one should pay

state income tax

.

That unifying factor is that they celebrate rogues and people with questionable character.

This is common in the South.

This is why Billy Corben focused his 2006 documentary Cocaine Cowboys on the Miami drug trade.

This illicit trade was very popular throughout the state and

came in through South America

.

There was another documentary that Corben did that focused on the descendants of bootleggers on the west coast of Florida.

These people traffic drugs through the Everglades.

The documentary showed how the people of Florida celebrate the bootleggers.

A 1950s

North Carolina

bootlegger, Tom Wolfe, also known as Junior Johnson, became a stock-car driver.

I wish that present-day Floridians could rewatch the old Miami vice episodes of  “The Last American Hero”, we would have been on the hunt for the bad guys by now.

What part of Florida is considered the South?

The parts of Florida that are seen as the south are the Miami metropolitan area, including Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties.

The remote region of Florida known as the Glades is also seen as South Florida.

Furthermore, Southwest Florida, which is the state’s southern Gulf Coast, has been made a directional vernacular region.

So: Is Florida the South?

Florida is undoubtedly the southernmost state.

It has all the geographical features of the south.

It has many lakes and green vegetation.

You will see many swamps and snakes as soon as you move from the major cities to the suburbs.

The region has a lot of alligators and bears.

Almost everyone has had one encounter or the other with alligators or bears, sometimes with both.

A journal FiveThirtyEight has it that above 60 percent of the Southerners believe the region to be the South.
