Every airport in the list: its closest hotel
Connecting abroad: in the transit area or past immigration
12 of the 30 busiest US airports have a hotel inside a terminal or joined to one: inside the terminal at Dallas/Fort Worth, Orlando, Miami and Detroit; joined on foot or by the airport's own train at Denver, Chicago O'Hare, New York JFK, Houston Bush, Boston, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Tampa and Nashville (each airport's own page, read October 11, 2026).
How to use it
Pick your airport. The answer says whether a hotel is inside the terminal or joined to it, which one, and how you get there, in the airport's own words with a link to its page. Under it: every other hotel on airport property, where the other hotels' shuttles stop, and the pods and nap rooms past security at the same airport. Tap any airport in the list under the tool to switch to it; the link under the answer keeps your choice.
Inside, joined, or on the airport
Five words do the work, and the tool keeps them apart. Inside the terminal: the hotel is in the building — the Hyatt Regency at Orlando sits inside Terminal A/B, above the security checkpoint for Gates 70-129
. Joined to the terminal: a walkway, bridge, plaza or tunnel takes you there on foot (Houston's Marriott also by its free underground train service (“Subway”)
). A short walk from the terminal: Heathrow's own words for its Sofitel, just a stone’s throw away from Terminal 5
. On the airport, by its train: San Francisco's Grand Hyatt is located at the entrance
and reached by the AirTrain. On airport property: on the grounds, by a hotel shuttle — Newark's Marriott is Newark's only on-airport hotel
.
Security matters more than the building. Orlando's page says its hotel and restaurants are “pre-security”
; Minneapolis-St. Paul's InterContinental has the hotel’s own TSA security checkpoint and skybridge access directly into Terminal 1 at Gate C25
, open 5 to 10 a.m. for carry-on travelers. At a US airport, if you want to sleep without leaving the secure side, the place is a pod or nap room, not a hotel: Airport Sleeping Pods lists them.

Connecting abroad: transit hotels
At the hubs US travelers connect through, the question is not only how close the hotel is but which side of immigration it sits on. A hotel in the transit area (airside) is reached without entering the country; a hotel past immigration means entering it first, with whatever visa or travel authorization it asks of you. Each airport's own page says which: Changi puts it plainly for its transit hotels, Note: please do not clear immigration if you wish to stay at this hotel.
, and for YOTELAIR in Jewel, YOTELAIR is located in Jewel, at the public area of Changi Airport, so travellers will have to clear immigration and exit the transit area.
Heathrow's hotels are all landside: A good night’s sleep is just a stone’s throw away with a generous choice of hotels at walking distance from Arrivals.
Schiphol puts its two after security
, and says YOTELAIR is accessible even if you do not have a visa to enter the Netherlands
; Frankfurt's MY CLOUD lets a passenger with a non-Schengen flight check in without having to leave the transit area and enter the Schengen zone
.
| Airport | Closest hotel | Where | Immigration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amsterdam (AMS) | Mercure Hotel Schiphol Terminal | Inside the terminal: after security, in Lounge 3 (on the way to gates D1–D57, E, F, G and H) | In the transit area: Mercure Hotel Schiphol Terminal, YOTELAIR Amsterdam Schiphol Terminal |
| Delhi (DEL) | Holiday Inn Express New Delhi International Airport T3 (International wing) | Inside the terminal: inside Terminal 3, its International wing | In the transit area: Holiday Inn Express New Delhi International Airport T3 (International wing) |
| Doha (DOH) | Oryx Airport Hotel | Inside the terminal: inside the transit area, at the South Plaza next to the Lamp Bear | In the transit area: Oryx Airport Hotel |
| Dubai (DXB) | Dubai International Hotel | Inside the terminal: inside Terminal 3, in its departures area | In the transit area: Dubai International Hotel |
| Frankfurt (FRA) | MY CLOUD Transit Hotel | Inside the terminal: inside Terminal 1 at Gate Z25, in the non-Schengen transit area | In the transit area: MY CLOUD Transit Hotel |

| Istanbul (IST) | YOTELAIR Istanbul Airport | Inside the terminal: inside the terminal, airside (280 cabins) | In the transit area: YOTELAIR Istanbul Airport |

| Toronto (YYZ) | Sheraton Gateway Hotel | Joined to the terminal: directly connected to Terminal 3 | Not said |
Hong Kong's and Toronto's own pages say how their hotels join the terminal, not which side of immigration they are on, so the table says "Not said". At Tokyo Narita the capsule hotel is before security; past it, Narita's own day rooms (nap rooms with a shower) are Only for use of customers who have already completed their departure procedures and transit passengers.
Delhi's Holiday Inn Express is one hotel in two wings inside Terminal 3: the International wing is for Guests transiting between two International destinations
, and Indian VISA is not a prerequisite for guests staying in the International Wing.
; the Domestic wing takes an international arrival flying on within India, or someone arriving by road for a flight from Terminal 3. Munich's only hotel on its own pages, the Hilton, is situated between Terminals 1 and 2
, in the public area; to sleep past security there, Munich points to its napcabs pods after the security check in Terminal 2
. Manila's own list names The Wings Transit Hotel & Spa, a TRANSIT HOTEL AND LOUNGE
on Level 4 of Terminal 3, without saying which side of immigration it is on — so neither does the table. Paris Charles de Gaulle is not here: its site refused every reader we tried, and the newest full saved copy of its hotels page is from March 2026.
Worked examples
- A night at Orlando before an early flight: the Hyatt Regency is inside Terminal A/B, above the checkpoint for Gates 70–129, before security, so a morning flight from those gates is an elevator ride and the line away.
- A missed connection at Dallas/Fort Worth: the Grand Hyatt is inside Terminal D, and DFW says it
can easily be accessed from any terminal via Skylink, the Airport's complimentary high-speed train
. - An overnight at New York JFK: the TWA Hotel is JFK's only on-site hotel: from Terminal 5 you walk through the old Flight Center tubes; from any other terminal, the AirTrain to Terminal 5.
- A long connection at Seoul Incheon: each terminal has a Transit Hotel by the gates on the 4th floor, the floor Incheon's own list calls its transit zone: near Gate 11 in Terminal 1, across from Gate 252 in Terminal 2. Its Darakhyu capsule hotels are in the public areas, by the Transportation Center and the bus ticket counter.
- A connection at Munich: the Hilton is between Terminals 1 and 2, in the public area, so a night there means passport control (from outside the Schengen area) and security again; Munich's napcabs sleeping pods are the place past security in Terminal 2.
- Atlanta: no hotel inside or joined to the terminal on the airport's own page; hotel shuttles leave from Aisle C of the Ground Transportation Center, and three Minute Suites are past security.
Common mistakes
- Taking "airport hotel" to mean "in the airport". Most hotels with Airport in the name are a shuttle ride away: Philadelphia's own list puts the Marriott on the Arrivals Roadway at 0.2 mi and the next hotels at 0.9 and 1.0 mi.
- Expecting to stay past security. No US airport page we read puts a hotel past security, and Orlando's calls its own
“pre-security”
. Plan to clear security again to fly, and budget the line. - Checked bags at Minneapolis-St. Paul. The airport sends travelers who pick up bags in baggage claim to the hotel's shuttle in the Ground Transportation Center; the skyway near Gate C25 is for those who do not.
- Trusting an old list. Nashville's Hilton opened on April 3, 2024 (the airport's own gallery of the opening), joined to the central terminal by a covered bridge; a list from before then misses it.
