Gulf of Tadjoura

The Gulf of Tadjoura is a popular place in Djibouti. You have many things to do in Tadjoura in its gulf.

Green Goda Mountains

The green Goda Mountains have hills with 1300 feet. It is a stunning place with a panoramic view of the city and its neighboring cities.

 The Day Forest National Park manages part of this mountain.

Things to do in Tadjoura, Day Forest National Park

There are things to do in Tadjoura, especially when you visit the Day Forest National Park.

The park is also called the Forêt du Day National Park. It is a closed forest and protects four dominant species; Tarchonanthus camphorates, Olea Africana, Buxus hildebrantii, and Juniperus procera.

 It is the largest forest in the country. Some of the wildlife species found here include the green-winged pytilia, Djibouti francolin (Pternistis ochropectus), and Tôha sunbird.

Some of the things to do in Tadjoura include, watching the Gambaga flycatcher, Somali bulbul, Somali starling, and rare colubridsnake Platyceps afarensis.

Presence of UNESCO/World heritage sites

The pronounced UNESCO World Heritage Site in the country is Lake Assal that literally means Honey Lake. This stunning spot is a crater lake and offers many things to do in Tadjoura.

 The lake is one of the saltiest lakes on earth. Most tourists come to see the Afar Triangle that is Africa’s lowest point and it is the largest salt reserve on earth.

The site is taken to be a national treasure and it is protected.

Transportation/Cost

It takes two and a half hours to get to Djibouti City from Tadjoura by ferry. The distance is 3 hours with dhow and 15 minutes by air while those that are taking by road is two hours.

 Most of the transportation network in the country is at Djibouti City. With any transport network, you are offered different scenes and things to do in Tadjoura.

The buses in Djibouti City are under the Djibouti City Bus Service Enterprise . The green-and-white taxis are the official color of the cabs in the country. 

The Central Bus Station is the headquarters of the transportation system. This bus station is at the crossing of Rue de Bender. 

There is a seaport in the Horn region that brings most people to Tadjoura. This seaport is a busy seaport.
