Put-in-Bay & Kelleys Island Ferry: Every Boat on Your Day

Three companies run the boats: Miller Ferry from Catawba Island to Put-in-Bay (under 20 minutes, $9 an adult each way), Jet Express from Port Clinton to downtown Put-in-Bay (25 minutes, $41.99 round trip) and the Kelleys Island Ferry from Marblehead ($13 an adult each way). Pick the island and the day to see every boat both ways, the first over and the last back. After October 25, 2026 only Miller and the Kelleys ferry run.

How to use it

Choose Put-in-Bay or Kelleys Island and the day you go. The answer gives the last boat back that day and the first one over; under it, each company that sails gets its card: every departure from the mainland and from the island (the last one back in red), the crossing time and the round-trip fare. Tick "I'm taking a car" for the car fares and Miller's weekend rule. A day in 2027 shows 2026's timetable for the same dates, labelled — none of the three has posted 2027 yet. The three boats

• Miller Ferry (Miller Boat Line), Catawba Island ⇄ Put-in-Bay: Transit time for Put-in-Bay is under 20 minutes. $9 an adult (12 and older) each way, $1.50 a child 6–11, free 5 and younger; a bike $2.50, a car $23, a motorcycle $16. Put-in-Bay passenger and private vehicle reservations are not required. Its 2026 brochure runs March 19 to November 25.
• Jet Express, Port Clinton ⇄ Put-in-Bay (and in summer Sandusky ⇄ Kelleys Island ⇄ Put-in-Bay): passengers and bikes only, Direct to Downtown. $41.99 an adult round trip ($26.50 one way), $17 a youth 12–16, $8 a child 6–11, free 5 and under; from Sandusky $42 to Kelleys Island and $50 to Put-in-Bay. In 2026 it ran from Port Clinton May 1 to October 25 and from Sandusky May 22 to September 7.
• Kelleys Island Ferry (Kelleys Island Ferry Boat Line), Marblehead ⇄ Kelleys Island: $13 an adult each way, $10 a senior, $8 a child 5–11, free 4 and under; a car $23, a bike $5. Its 2026 sheet runs from March 30; from November 30 its schedule is "to be posted", and it is closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

First boat over and last boat back, 2026

A Tuesday and a Saturday in the third week of each month, from each company's own 2026 timetable (in brackets, the boats over that day). Jet Express adds its own boats from May to October.

Put-in-Bay on a Saturday in October. Put-in-Bay, Saturday, October 17: the last boat back is 11:00 PM. Last back: Jet Express to Port Clinton, 11:00 PM. First over: Miller Ferry from Catawba Island, 7:30 AM. Running: Miller Ferry from Catawba Island (12 over, 12 back) and Jet Express from Port Clinton (10 over, 10 back).

A Tuesday, with the car. Put-in-Bay, Tuesday, October 20: the last boat back is 6:00 PM. Last back: Miller Ferry to Catawba Island, 6:00 PM. First over: Miller Ferry from Catawba Island, 7:30 AM. Running: Miller Ferry from Catawba Island (12 over, 12 back). Miller can take the car there and back the same day on a weekday.

Kelleys Island on Thanksgiving. Kelleys Island, Thursday, November 26: the last boat back is 4:30 PM. Last back: Kelleys Island Ferry to Marblehead, 4:30 PM. First over: Kelleys Island Ferry from Marblehead, 9:00 AM. Running: Kelleys Island Ferry from Marblehead (2 over, 2 back).

A Saturday in July 2027. Put-in-Bay, Saturday, July 3, 2027: the last boat back is 9:00 PM (2026's timetable). Last back: Miller Ferry to Catawba Island, 9:00 PM. First over: Miller Ferry from Catawba Island, 6:30 AM. Running: Miller Ferry from Catawba Island (30 over, 30 back). 2027's boats are not posted yet: these are 2026's for the same dates.

Common mistakes

• Planning to bring the car back the same Saturday. Miller: We are unable to round trip a vehicle within the same day on Saturday, Sunday or Holidays due to high traffic.
• Assuming every boat lands downtown. Jet Express sails Direct to Downtown; Miller lands at its own dock — its brochure puts golf carts, bikes, cabs and the downtown bus near it.
• Counting on a late boat in November. From November 2 Miller's last boat back leaves the island at 4:30 PM, and the Kelleys ferry's at 5:30 PM on weekdays.
• Cutting it fine at the Jet Express dock. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to departure.
