Hours, the last entry and the last bus tour from Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex’s hours page; the order and the times from its half-day itinerary and each attraction’s own page (read 2026-10-04). Its hours can change in peak seasons: check the day’s schedule when you arrive.

Quick answer: Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex opens at 9 AM and closes at 5, 6 or 7 PM by season. Entry ends an hour before closing, and the last bus tour leaves 2.5 hours before. The bus tour takes about 3 hours, so arrive by noon to see it and Atlantis. Pick your day and arrival time for a timed plan.

How to use it

Pick the day you go (today is filled in) and the time you arrive, untick anything you want to skip, and tick the box if a child under 44 inches is with you. The answer is your day in order, each stop with its start and end time, using the visitor complex’s own “Allow” time for each attraction. It puts the bus tour first while it is still running, says what has no time left before closing, and lists the visitor complex’s rules with links to its pages.

The hours, the last entry and the last bus

The visitor complex opens at 9 AM every day it is open and closes at 5, 6 or 7 PM depending on the season. Its own rules decide how late you can start: “Entry to the visitor complex ends 1 hour prior to closing” and “Last bus tour runs 2.5 hours before visitor complex closure.” On a 5 PM day that means no entry after 4 PM and no bus tour after 2:30 PM. It is closed on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

How long each part takes

Every attraction page gives its own time. The bus tour is the long one: “Allow 3 hours”, and the half-day itinerary says “it’s important to budget about 3 hours for the round trip”, with its two stops, the Gantry at LC-39 (allow 45 minutes) and the Apollo/Saturn V Center (allow 1 hour). The bus is “included with admission”.

All of them together come to 6 hours 30 minutes, so on a 5 PM day the full list fits only if you arrive by 10:30 AM; from 9 AM it leaves 90 minutes to spare for the Rocket Garden, lunch and the lines.

Worked examples

At 9 AM on a 5 PM day (Saturday, October 10, 2026). The bus tour first, back by 12 PM, then Heroes and Legends, Atlantis, the Shuttle Launch Experience, Gateway and Spaceport KSC, done by 3:30 PM.

At noon, the same day. The bus tour until 3 PM, then Heroes and Legends and Atlantis, done by 4:30 PM; no time is left for the two rides and Gateway.

At 3 PM, the same day. The last bus left at 2:30 PM. Heroes and Legends and Atlantis fit before 5 PM.

At 1 PM on December 22, 2026. The week before Christmas it closes at 7 PM: the bus tour until 4 PM, then everything but Spaceport KSC.

With a child under 44 inches. The two rides drop out; from 9 AM, the bus tour, Heroes and Legends, Atlantis and Gateway are done by 2:15 PM.

Common mistakes

  • Arriving after the last bus. On a 5 PM day it leaves at 2:30 PM, and the Apollo/Saturn V Center can be reached only by the bus.
  • Starting the day indoors when you arrive late. The visitor complex’s own tip: “If you’re arriving in the afternoon, make sure the bus tour is your first mission — it closes earlier than other attractions.”
  • Skipping Atlantis for the bus. “Whether you take the bus tour or not, do not miss seeing Atlantis.”
  • Promising the rides to a small child. The Shuttle Launch Experience and Spaceport KSC both have a 44-inch (112 cm) height limit.
  • Going on Thanksgiving or Christmas Day: the visitor complex is closed.

FAQ

What are the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex hours?

It opens at 9 AM and closes at 5 PM most of the year, 6 PM from March 16 to April 12, from June 29 to August 9 and over New Year, and 7 PM from December 20 to 30. It is closed on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Pick your date above for that day’s hours.

How long is the Kennedy Space Center bus tour?

Plan on about 3 hours. The visitor complex says to “budget about 3 hours for the round trip”, with its two stops at the Gantry at LC-39 (allow 45 minutes) and the Apollo/Saturn V Center (allow 1 hour).

What time is the last bus tour at Kennedy Space Center?

2.5 hours before closing: 2:30 PM on a 5 PM day, 3:30 PM on a 6 PM day and 4:30 PM on a 7 PM day.

How long should you spend at Kennedy Space Center?

A full day for everything: the visitor complex’s own times add up to 6 hours 30 minutes for the bus tour, Heroes and Legends, Atlantis, Gateway and the two rides. For the bus tour and Atlantis alone, allow about 4 hours.

What should you do first at Kennedy Space Center?

The bus tour, especially in the afternoon: it stops running earlier than everything else. Without the bus, start with Heroes and Legends, which the visitor complex calls “the perfect first stop when you walk through our gates”.

Is the bus tour included in Kennedy Space Center admission?

Yes. The Apollo/Saturn V Center “is accessible via a Kennedy Space Center bus and is included with admission.”

Is Kennedy Space Center worth it?

If you can give it most of a day: the bus tour to the Apollo/Saturn V Center and Atlantis alone take about 4 hours by the visitor complex’s own times. Arriving after 2:30 PM on a 5 PM day leaves no time for the bus tour.
