How to use it
Pick the island and the day, then a boat from Ceiba and a boat back: the same day for a day trip, or up to 14 nights later. The planner gives the time to be at the Ceiba terminal (the operator asks for an hour before the boat; boarding closes 10 minutes before), when you land, how long you have on the island before you must be back at its terminal, when you are back in Ceiba, and the round-trip fare for your party. Below the answer is the day’s whole timetable, with the boats you chose marked. The trip stays in the link, so a copied link reopens it.

Worked examples
- A weekday on Vieques for two adults (Wednesday, October 14): be at the Ceiba terminal by 7:30 AM for the 8:30 AM boat (boarding closes at 8:20 AM), land at 9:30 AM, and take the 3:00 PM boat back: 4 h 30 min on the island before you are due at its terminal, back in Ceiba at 4:00 PM, $8.00 round trip.
- A Saturday at Flamenco Beach, on Culebra, for two adults, two children and a baby (October 17): the 8:00 AM boat lands at 9:30 AM; the 4:00 PM boat back leaves 5 h 30 min on the island and has you in Ceiba at 5:30 PM, for $13.00 round trip.
- Mosquito Bay by night: on October 15 it is dark by the bay (the end of civil twilight) at 6:21 PM, and the last boat back boards until 9:20 PM, so an evening on the water and the drive back to the terminal have to fit in 2 h 59 min. On August 15 dark comes at 7:11 PM. A late tour means a night on Vieques.
Common mistakes
- Arriving at boarding time. “You must arrive at the terminal one hour before your trip; check-in closes 10 minutes before departure.” A missed boat is not refunded: “All ticket sales are FINAL, no refunds are allowed.”
- Planning on a rental car. “At this time vehicles can only be brought onboard if they are owed by a resident of Vieques or Culebra.” Leave the car at Ceiba.
- Trusting a short crossing time. Discover Puerto Rico writes that “The ferry from Ceiba to Vieques takes about 30 minutes”; the operator gives 1 hour to Vieques and 1 hour 30 minutes to Culebra. Plan on the operator’s.
- Looking for a ferry from San Juan, or between the islands. There is none: Ceiba is “about a 1.5-hour drive from San Juan”, and between Vieques and Culebra “there is no direct public ferry service between them.”
