Two car ferries cross Long Island Sound: Cross Sound Ferry between New London, Connecticut, and Orient Point on the North Fork, about 1 hour 20 minutes, and the Bridgeport & Port Jefferson Ferry, about 1 hour 15 minutes. A car and its driver pay $72.10–$76.40 one way on Cross Sound before its fuel surcharge, $78–$80 from Bridgeport. Pick a side or a port and a day to see every boat both ways and the last one back.
How to use it
Choose the day you go and where you leave from: a side of the Sound (both ports) or one port. The answer gives the last boat over that day and the first; each line gets its card: every departure from your side and from the other, when each one gets in, the last one back in red, the crossing time, the fare that day and how to book. On Cross Sound Ferry the peak boats are shaded, as on its printed sheet (Peak Departures Shaded Blue
); the Bridgeport & Port Jefferson Ferry prices the whole day, peak or off-peak. The answer also counts the hours a day trip gives you on the other side, over on the first boat and back on the last. Under the boats, the car box says what each line asks of a car and where to leave yours. The link under the answer keeps your port and day.
Cross Sound Ferry's boats come from its own trip finder, held to its printed monthly sheets: a boat the sheet does not print would say added, and a sheet boat the finder no longer has is named on the card. The Bridgeport & Port Jefferson Ferry's come from its own schedule page, day by day.
