Have you wondered why people like watching the sky at night? For me, it is therapeutic and helps me sleep faster.

I watch the many stars, give them names, and sometimes see bright meteors. However, your location in the world determines the number of celestial objects you see in the night sky.

What US state has the darkest sky parks? I will recommend the Four Corners region of the country.

While you can watch the sky from different parts of the country, light pollution will stop you from seeing many of the celestial objects except the brightest stars and satellites.

If you want a full view of our solar system, I recommend you go to the darkest places in America.

These are the places you will have an unforgettable stargazing experience. You have to visit these dark places on a clear night because it is the best time to have the best view of the stars.

You will see the most Dark Sky Communities in the world in the Four Corners region of the United States. There are 19 dark-sky communities, places, and parks in Arizona.

The National Parks (Grand Canyon & Petrified Forest), and the Big Bend National Park (International Dark Sky Park) are among these 19 dark-sky communities, places, and parks.

The Big Bend National Park is popular for its amazing vistas and hiking trails. It is located southwest of Texas and is a nice place to spend your night.

It is located far from the main urban areas, devoid of light pollution, which will obstruct the nighttime sky views.

Here are some of the best darkest sky parks:

You can visit the Colorado national park to see the tallest dunes in North America during the day, waiting for sunset before you go stargazing.

The park has dry air and is located at a high elevation. These features, added to its small light pollution, make the park a nice place for stargazing.

Glacier National Park is a top-rated park in America, located in Montana. The park has rugged Rocky Mountains and beautiful lakes.

If you want to have all night beautiful views of the stars, you can spend the night at one of the Parks campgrounds.

You will have a very clear view of the sky from the National Park in California. Go for a scenic drive if you want to explore the beautiful landscape of this park.

In the night, you will go on to have a wonderful stargazing experience.

Central Idaho Dark Sky Reserve is America’s only International Dark Sky Reserve. The reserve is located on about 1,500 square miles of land in the beautiful Mountains of Sawtooth. Its location positions it as a perfect spot for stargazing.

Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument is located in Maine. This park has opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, canoeing, kayaking, and many other outdoor activities.

There is also a scenic drive on the Katahdin Loop Road. At sunset, you will gaze the stars at their best.

This park is a must-visit. It has incredible vistas and stunning trails. If you are a stargazer, it should also be on your list. We do not think there is another place nicer for pictures than Grand Canyon National Park.

Great Basin National Park, located in Nevada is the park that has the least visitors in America. It is one of the places you see the darkest skies in the country. It is a nice place for stargazing.

Cherry Springs State Park is in Pennsylvania. The park is a perfect destination for northeastern stargazers.

You will have a 360-degree night sky view at the Astronomy Observation Field. You may spot the elusive northern lights during the fall or winter if you are observant.

Georgia state park is a perfect stargazing destruction for those in the southeast. The cities around this park are few. Therefore light pollution there is low, so the park has clear skies for stargazing.

Arizona was the first state to initiate the dark-sky preservation movement. The International Dark-Sky Association designated Flagstaff in 2001 as the first Dark Sky Place in the world.

This demonstrates its resolve to join in protecting the stargazing-friendly night skies. From 2001 till now, the International Dark-Sky Association has rated five other communities in Arizona as Dark Sky places.

What US state has the darkest sky parks?
