Key West is an Island city in the southernmost point of the United States. I like the streets and neighborhoods because they are adorned with pastel, conch-style architecture. Why is Key West so popular?

The city has energetic strips of shops, bars, and cafes on Duval Street. That is where Sloppy Joe’s bar, the favorite Key West hangout spot of the novelist named Ernest Hemingway is located.

For those who may not know, there is an Ernest Hemingway Home, and Museum in Key West. This is where you will see six-toed cats.

If you take a walking tour of Key West, you will have the opportunity of seeing the intriguing homes, courtyards, and gardens of the Island.

Start your exploration from Key West City Cemetery, at the heart of the town, this is where you have a glimpse of Key West’s yesterday’s and the city’s offbeat sense of humor.

On some gravestones you will see writings like “I told you I was sick,” and “At least I know where he’s sleeping tonight.”

The Island is known for watersports, lively nightlife, beaches, and historic sites. It has much pastel, conch-style architecture. It has rich historic sites that may interest you to visit.

Here are some of the things that make Key West popular:

All the Keys of Florida are perfect tourist destinations for ocean lovers. They feature a lot of memorable water-based activities and experiences for your enjoyment.

Add oceanic activities to your to-do list if you are visiting Key West. It does not matter whether you know how to dive or snorkel.

The seaport of Key West is historic. Go there and see many longstanding operators in wreck diving, reef diving, mangrove kayaking, and bottom boat trips.

Stop over at the two top snorkeling sites that reach a high-speed, state-of-the-art catamaran. It will thrill and entertain you.

You will have the opportunity to meet an experienced local fisherman named Andy Griffiths Charters. This man will get a three-day excursion arranged for you.

He will take you to the Dry Tortugas, or he will take you on a four-hour fishing tour at a very low cost.

Book accommodation at Parrot Key Hotel and Villas if you want excellent onsite watersports. It is one of the most luxurious resorts in Key West.

The resort has a lush landscape and is located on a white-sand beach. It has four swimming pools and is not far from Old Town.

If you visit the narrow streets around the lighthouse and the west of Whitehead Street, known as Bahama Village, you will feel the old-time atmosphere of Key West. Most of the small buildings there were cigar factories.

The village is now dilapidated and the opposite of the developments that have come to Old Town.

The feel of the Caribbean vibe in this area is authentic. The area is populated by Bahamians that worked in the salvage trade and later settled in Key West.

At Key West, you will see and enjoy the sunset at its best. The hippies started this Daily Sunset Celebration in Key West in the 1960s. The Key West Cultural Preservation Society later took over its management.

This solar celebration is spectacular and exceptional. It is graced by jubilant jugglers, flamboyant fire-eaters, and fellow revelers.

Two hours before sunset, the celebration kicks off from Mallory Square. Food stalls, cocktail stands, and craft vendors add more color to this Key West vibe.

If you want to have a serene sunset-watching experience, book a two-hour sunset sail on the sea. As you sit back and sip sun-downers, you will be opportune to see dolphins, sea turtles, and water birds.

Duval Street is the capital of Key West’s best nightlife joints. There are many bouncing bars in that location where people of all ages come to enjoy themselves. At Green Parrot, you will dance to live music and drink with the locals till dawn.

Another hot spot on Duval Street is Sloppy Joe’s. Do not mind any rumor you may have heard about the spot, it is a much-debated topic. Sloppy Joe’s was formally located at the bar Ernest Hemingway frequently visited.

The Americans would like a “no” answer to this question. Cuba is about 90 miles from Key West. It falls below the horizon when looked at from Key West. This is caused by the earth’s round shape and curves.

This means no matter how sharp your eyesight may be, and how clear the day is, you can not see Cuba from anywhere in Key West.

You cannot even see Havana with binoculars or telescopes from Key West.

This will not prevent enterprising hotel and bar owners from saying in their adverts that their spots are as just perfect for seeing Cuba.

Most tourists to Key West love to take photos in front of the Southernmost Point Buoy. The buoy is the southernmost spot in America.

The most popular food in Key West is the key lime pie. You can hardly see key limes in any of the Florida Keys, but the key lime pie is still available in all the keys of Florida.

The key lime is a bittersweet, highly acidic citrus fruit uses for baking. Bakers buy it from Mexico, and the West Indies.

Why is Key West so popular?
