When you think of wild, Africa comes to your mind and conjures some exotic travel trips in your head. Yes, Africa has become the place where Mother Nature is still in total control when it comes to the natural habitats of some animals in the wild.
We have listed some five great destinations for you to visit and see the wild animals in their natural homes; this is where they are really the ‘Kings of the jungle’. You would feel their dominance, their strength, their fear and respect in these destinations.
South Luangwa National Park, Zambia
This is known as the home of walking safaris. South Luangwa National Park offers this beautiful scene with its valley, you can seen lions from a safe distance walk majestically. You can even find them during your early morning or afternoon game drive. These lions are seen sharing the valley with the leopards. This means that you are seeing also the leopards in a large number. There are camps you can choose from like the Kuyenda,Tena Tena, Tafika, Puku Ridge and Chinzombo.
The best time to find lions can be in October when there is abundance of game along the Luangwa River.
Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya
You cannot miss Kenya if you are thinking of having a slice of the wildlife in Africa. This park is perfectly designed for the lions and it is renowned for its lion prides. It was here that “The Big Cat Diary” was filmed by BBC and Disney also filmed “African Cats.” The pride of these cats can be felt strongly here as they take on prey four times their size. April and May can be best time to see the lions.
Ruaha National Park, Tanzania
Ruaha National Park may not that known but it is a home for the wild. You have to fly to Seleous and then move a little mile which you would never regret before arriving at the park. Most people are seen staying at Mwagusi Safari Camp. This is located in the pulsating heart of the Ruaha’s prime lion country.
April and May is the perfect time.
Okavango Delta, Botswana
Okavango Delta is located in the Kalahari thirstlands. This is the biggest oasis in Africa and an earthly haven for all the big cats, there is abundant prey and the bountiful waters make it a special place to visit. You can visit the Duba Plains which is where you the famous fights between the big heads of buffaloes and the hungry lions take place. You can visit the park from July to September.
Serengeti National Park, Tanzania
The last thing you may find here is lack of lions, the Serengeti’s lions are so many that they are indeed the kings, there is hardly a place where you would not see them posing as threats to their prey. Between the Naabi Gate and the Seronera River is where there is a huge concentration of these lions. You can visit here from December and March when the wildebeest are calving.
