Hello my loves and welcome to the ultimate guide of Split
0:04
So having spent over a month in Split, I feel like I'm the perfect person to give you this guide
0:23
So I hope you do enjoy if you're excited, hit that thumbs up. If you're visiting, let me know in the comments section down below
0:27
If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to. hesitate to ask, reach out to me either in the comments or over on my Instagram
0:33
So to make this guide as easy as possible, I've organised it into sections and we're
0:38
going to start off with my favourite, which is where to eat. So in Split, there's an absolute
0:41
abundance of places you can eat. They have all types of cuisine and they really do cater
0:48
to everyone's needs. You can find everything from bigger houses, sushi restaurants and even
0:54
vegetarian and vegan places too. Today I'll share with you some of the places I actually went to and
0:59
that are ones that I can recommend. However, there are so many more. So please do a little bit of
1:03
your own research, walk around and see what takes your fancy and just try something out that's new
1:08
This one here is actually called Basta. It was on the marina front and it was actually really
1:13
well priced for its location. You have a view of the harbour and it's a great pizza space
1:20
Also lovely to stop for like a weekend cocktail or a coffee. So if you're staying a long time like we were, some nights you might not feel like going out
1:28
So another alternative would be to use Walt. Walt is an app
1:31
It's a bit like Deliveroo or Jesse, and you can order from, like, so many different restaurants on there
1:37
There's, again, loads of choice. We had a great Thai place. I'll pop the name on the screen
1:41
And we also ordered a few pizzas from another name I'll pop on the screen here
1:46
because I can't remember off the top of my head. And both of them were great, and I could highly recommend
1:51
But it's also got, like, ratings on there. So you can kind of, like, find what you want based on, like, cost
1:57
and other people's ratings, so it's a really good app. They also do deliver other things as well
2:03
so maybe like groceries or we actually got some yoga mats delivered
2:07
things like that that maybe you can't find by walking around, but they're on the app. So it's definitely worth using
2:13
You can also get a discount code if you sign up a friend, so I'll leave a link down below
2:17
and then if you sign up via that, you get $3.50 off. And again, if you are staying for longer than maybe a week
2:23
you may want to do some of your own cooking. and there's loads of grocery stores around one I would recommend though close to the centre
2:30
it's about five minute walk out of the centre it's called it's called little i feel like everyone knows what
2:34
little is but it's the most affordable definitely but most of the supermarkets are actually just dotted
2:40
around the town centre if you type in tommy or consum then you'll be able to find them next we'll move on to
2:48
see and things to do obviously one of my favorite things to do here is literally just walk around the old town
2:55
exploring all it has to offer the amazing buildings so much history here and what I would highly
3:01
recommend doing if you want to learn about that is to find a guy who which says walking tour on
3:07
and pay him X amount of Cooner to tell you about the history because it's such a beautiful place
3:13
with so much history and it would be a shame not to learn about it whilst you're here and there's
3:18
also when you're walking around you can literally just get lost in the cobbled streets and I think
3:24
it's quite a fun thing to do just spend maybe an hour or two just wandering around
3:28
seeing what you find as around every corner there's just beautiful cafe shops
3:32
restaurants and quirky little stores with just yeah so much to see another thing to
3:38
see in split would be the fish market and they have a local fish market every day from
3:43
6 a.m. till 1 p.m. and they also have like a local veg and fruit and veg market where they
3:48
also have some stalls of local selling like homemade goods maybe some honey olive oil which is very
3:54
popular here as they grow it all themselves and you can also get things like
4:00
souvenirs there flowers and just little bits and bobs So in split there are many
5:17
beaches visit they all sort of lead onto one another so if you start walking you'll find most of them
5:23
you can either head from the center of the river left this is left you'll find the first um
5:30
beach is the only sand beach i think in split and then following on from that there's more just
5:35
pebble pebble beaches my personal favorite was if you turn right you go past the marina you go
5:41
past the little park and it's kind of tricky to find but just persevere and find it because you go around this
5:47
absolutely beautiful coastline where you can go rock jumping the water is just the
5:52
clearest you've ever seen and you find some absolutely amazing parks um beaches there and these
5:58
this is all part of the marjoram park so um i'll pop a little picture here the marjoram park is one of
6:04
my absolute must sees when visiting split because it's the most absolutely beautiful thing i've
6:11
ever seen in my life and it's huge so you might want to um hike up it one day
6:17
There's steps you can take from just the right side of the center of split
6:26
I think it's 300-something steps which will take you all the way to the highest peak
6:30
You can see Trigier from there, which is where I am actually now
6:34
And also you can just see loads of the beautiful islands. It's an absolutely great view
6:39
It would be lovely for sunrise, sunset. We hiked up in the middle of the day and it was beautiful
6:45
Just bear in mind, obviously, what time of view you go. It's going to be kind of to be kind of toasty. until you got your SPF on
6:49
but we also went around the other side of it so you have to kind of walk through the town centre
6:55
to find the other side, the other entrance but I would highly recommend doing this because that side was stunning
7:00
like there was mountains, there was sea the crystal clear waters were just beautiful
7:05
there wasn't so many beaches as such but the walk was absolutely stunning
7:09
you can't actually do a loopwalk of the whole Marjoram Park probably take you quite a while
7:13
without going to the peak just around but I definitely think you should do it
7:17
get yourself a picnic, take a little lunch down there. I think that is a cafe or a restaurant down there as well
7:22
so you might not have to worry about that. But I highly recommend doing that
7:26
There's also a little like workout bit in the park itself as well
7:30
Or you could hire some bicycles and cycle around it. It is either a foot or bicycle, though
7:36
Actually saying that, I do think there is a bus that might drop you off there. So if you aren't able to do walking or biking
7:42
then I highly do recommend just go and to see it because it's some of the most stunning views
7:47
that I've ever seen in my entire life. I'll try and pop some clips on the screen so you can see that, wow, you have to do it for yourself
7:53
As far as excursions go, I always think when I click on an ultimate guide to somewhere
7:57
I don't want to see trips to X, X, X, X, X, X, X, like all these different places
8:01
I want to see things I can do where I am, but I kind of get why people do include these things
8:05
so I have included them in today's video just because there are some things to do
8:10
which, as you are so close to them from Split, it would be a shame to miss
8:18
So the Kirke National Park and Waterfalls are around one hour away from Split
8:23
You can drive there or take an excursion that's planned already. We decided to rent a car and drive ourselves
8:31
We parked a little bit further away and then you can get this awesome boat which takes you
8:35
about 15 minutes on the boat to the National Park and to the waterfalls
8:40
We actually decided to walk back about an hour long walk if you did want to do that So it costs around each to get into the waterfalls and it took around two hours probably just to see it all at a leisurely place
8:54
There is also like food and drink there, coffees, beers, those kinds of things
8:58
But you can also take your own in which is quite nice. So another excursion would be to take a trip to one of the islands
9:05
We actually visited the third biggest island here in Croatia, which is called Brach
9:10
It was about a 50 minute ferry ride over. You can get the ferry, you can buy the ticket on the day
9:17
or you can buy it online on the Jad Rulina. I'll leave the link here and down below in the description box website
9:22
That costs around £8 for the tour bus each way. You need to be there about 15 minutes early
9:28
but I'd say give yourself half an hour to buy your ticket and to board the ferry. There are also other excursions that we haven't done
9:35
but that are very well known here, which such things as there's a blue cave tour
9:39
and like I said, lots of other island tours. I think there's like a tour you can go around five of the islands in one day
9:45
those kind of things. So lovely options to do if you were looking to see more of Croatia
9:51
Okay, so I've dedicated a separate part of this video to coffee shops. If you are a digital nomad or travelling as a entrepreneur
9:58
and you want to work for some coffee shops, these are my top picks
10:02
Also places to get a really good coffee, which is super important for me personally
10:06
and also the Arca working spaces which I will pop on the screen as well
10:10
Okay so number one has to be it's called terra terra terra
10:16
I have no idea if that's right but this one is 100 for views
10:21
also you can get the Carver Slug there which is a traditional Croatian coffee
10:27
you can either have an espresso and then it has basically this like ice cream
10:32
style cream so it's like this really cold cream just in the top this
10:36
was an absolute treat. I love these, so definitely try that. Or it's just great for like views
10:43
but this is just a lovely place. I can just imagine, I didn't actually work here, but I could imagine working here, and it just being the dream come true. My second pick is actually a coffee
10:54
slash gin house. We didn't go back for gin, but I think it looked insane. The coffee there was
11:00
the best coffee I did have in Split. And I'll leave the name of this place on the screen
11:06
My third option is a takeaway only. This is lovely if you just want to go and get your morning coffee
11:11
go for a little stroll around the streets. This is called like four coffee special or something like that
11:16
It's fairly reasonably priced. It's a little bit more expensive than like your bog stand's coffee
11:22
as it is more of a speciality coffee shop. But it's really cute
11:27
It's kind of quirky. When you know where it is it's easy to find, but initially it was a little bit difficult to find
11:31
Those would be my top three picks 100% for coffee shops. For me, one of the best things I have a lot of coffee shop
11:35
For me, one of the best things I actually found here was the shopping mall, which if you are obviously a subscriber of my channel
11:41
you'll know my whole channel is mostly about fashion and a little bit about lifestyle. And the shopping mall, so the Mall of Split
11:47
is probably one of the best malls I've been to, in my life. I've been to some great ones in America and also in Malaysia
11:53
but the Mall of Split was absolutely just everything you need and more
11:57
And also I have to mention the Zara in Split itself was absolutely just gorgeous
12:03
so if you don't get a chance to go to the Mall of Split, then you can definitely get a little bit of shopping done in Split itself
12:10
but I would highly recommend visiting the Zara in Split as a lot of my wardrobe has just come from there
12:18
The best way to get to the Mall of Split would either be to rent a scooter if you feel comfortable to do so
12:23
or just get an Uber, it's super easy and really affordable. There is an alternative, which is to get the free bus
12:29
It does take an hour, and it's only a 15-minute journey by car, it's completely up to you and obviously whatever your budget allows
12:36
So whilst we were in Split, we did everything by foot. We did rent a car one day
12:40
I will recommend the car company we used. It was called Luta. Pop the details down below the description box
12:45
And they were really well priced, really easy to pick up. It was it right in the centre and there was just like no fuss or stress
12:53
We had a brand new car. It was beautiful and it was just exactly what we needed. So personally I think you can get around mostly on foot
13:00
But if you are doing excursions, you can obviously do paid ones. or if you want to do it yourself you can hire a car for the day So it entirely up to you and your budget You do see a lot of scooters around as well like the electric scooters
13:13
So if anyone is looking for some way to get around, it's a little bit easier
13:17
We did do a lot of steps, I'm not going to lie. But I think it was definitely lovely, and you get to see a lot more by foot
13:25
Obviously, it does restrict you a little bit from going too far. You're not keen on walking for a long time
13:29
Some of the beaches were a little bit further, but we enjoyed the walk to get to them
13:33
You could also rent a bicycle or a like a moped. Both of them are kind of like I guess reasonable
13:43
If you're here for a short time, maybe you could negotiate for a long term rental if you're here for a little bit longer like we were
13:50
Like I said, I honestly think you can see most of the places that you want to see in split by foot
13:54
A few additional extras that I forgot to mention would be when you've arrived at split, you can get an Uber from the airport super easy and proper
14:02
super easy and probably a lot cheaper than a taxi. There's a luggage storage point if you can't
14:08
check into your Airbnb as early as you arrive called there's an app called Bounce where you can do
14:13
lots of local places and also obviously if you were going to check out earlier and still wanted to
14:18
explore for your last day you could also use this you normally pay for either 24 hours per piece
14:23
of luggage or you can pay for like an hour I think or something like that but it's very very
14:28
reasonable service. I'd say most of the restaurants are fairly usually priced. I'd say it's probably a little bit under UK prices. It depends where you
14:38
eat. If you eat on the river along the front, it's a lot more. And then you can find more local
14:44
places. It's a bit less. There are some very expensive places which I haven't really
14:48
included. Most of the places we ate at were reasonably priced. I would see the sushi
14:53
place was a little bit higher but sushi normally is. Other things that I forgot to mention
14:58
that maybe we didn't do but maybe of interest to you if you like, it's a little bit of
15:02
night out apparently the place to be is Fabric which is on the sea front just at the end of the
15:08
river to the right there's also a beautiful church on the front as well right by fabric which is
15:13
really pretty and there's also loads of museums we didn't actually go to any because we've
15:19
been to London recently and been to quite a few because it was very neat and so we're kind of
15:23
all museumed out but there's loads of museums and split to go to especially if you're into
15:28
art history these kind of things and then you're literally going to be taught
15:32
between which one to go to. If you are on more of a budget there are loads of, um, if you go to the
15:38
more local places, you can get a coffee for around a pound. There's loads of bakeries and they
15:44
love their pastries here. So you can definitely go and just pick up something like for lunch
15:49
in one of these places. You get a coffee in a croissant for probably two pounds. You can get
15:54
something for lunch for probably around one to two pound in the smaller bakeries, which are dotted
15:59
around the place everywhere. So you definitely can see the city. on a lower budget and obviously book something through Airbnb. There's also hostels here
16:07
And then obviously if you are at a higher budget, there's some lovely hotels. We booked an
16:11
Airbnb for a month and we had a really good deal. I know that the prices do go up in high season
16:16
but it's obviously you can spend a bit of time looking. You definitely can find some good bargains
16:21
Another thing Split has an abundance of is ice cream shops. So there's so many ice cream shops
16:26
I would say though my favourite was called Lunars or Lukas. I'll pop it here. And the ice cream
16:32
there was amazing. I think it's all homemade. They also have cakes in there which looked insane
16:37
So if you have a special occasion or event, it would be a great place to pick up a cake for that as well
16:42
And then finally they also had these cute pastry shops called Barbies, which also felt ice cream
16:48
which were amazing. They did like lovely strudels, lovely things for lunch
16:53
a little bit more expensive than like a standard bakery, but I really would recommend trying them because they're lovely and they're almost on like every corner here
17:00
So if you have any more questions about your visit to split, please feel free to message me over on Instagram or leave a comment to today's video
17:07
