Hemis Monetary – The True Essence Of Buddhism

Located in small town Hemis, around 40km south of Leh, this religious site is quite beautiful and one of the richest monasteries in Ladakh. The monastery was built the King Singe Nampar Gyalya in 1672. He placed many golden statues, stupas and precious stones brought from different places. Hemis festival is celebrated every year in July. Religiousness and serenity will leave you enchanted.
