Ganesh Chaturdhi is one of the most sparkling fests celebrated in South India. The event falls in late August or Early September. According to Hindu calendar, it falls on the chaturdhi of moon days in the month of Bhadrapada. In 2012, it would be celebrated on 19the September. Elaborately crafted statues of Ganesha are installed in homes and podiums. On Anantha chaturdasi, the statutes are immersed into the ocean after a parade through streets. People sing, dance and enjoy the celebrations with full enthusiasm.
