The Galapagos found off the pacific coast of Ecuador is a paradise of nature. Don’t expect to see a lot of wildlife here but the few you find will really intrigue you. This region although sparsely populated has become a major attraction in the southern part of South America. It is shared by Argentina and Chile. Its two coasts run along two different oceans which are the Pacific and the Atlantic. The name Patagonia is believed to have been given by Magellan during his exploits as he thought the people were Patagon a Spanish terms for giants since they appeared taller than the Europeans. The area has a wide variety of flora and fauna. Bird watching is a popular activity here.

Its huge variety of species is second only to that f the Amazon Forest. This is probably one of the places in the world where you can be almost certain to see a Jaguar. It has become the Jaguar watching capital of the world. Every year thousands to millions of people travel to this area to have an encounter with nature.

After the Amazon, this is the second longest river in South America. It gets its source from Brazil and travels through Paraguay, Uruguay to the Tigre delta in Argentina. The delta area is known as a habitat for Jaguars.

South America is home to numerous waterfalls with some like the Angel falls being the tallest in the world. Together with other waterfalls like the Iguazu and the Laja falls, South America is a wonderland waterfall.
