Annapurna Circuit Trekking

annapurna circuit trekkingTrekking is my first love and I never miss any opportunity of trekking. I have enjoyed trekking at many treks around the world but no other location can beat the beauty and thrill of Annapurna circuit treks. This circuit is situated in Nepal. Annapurna circuit Trek is probably the most tremendous trek of the world. This beautiful trek takes you through the awe-inspiring landscapes and fascinating cultures. The highlight of this trek is Thorung La pass (5,416 meters). This trek always leaves you with undying beautiful memories. I did this trekking about six months ago but I can still feel the never- ending thrill. It is a life time experience.

It was a 14 days trekking holiday at Annapurna, Nepal. These 14 days were the most beautiful days of my life. On day one, I reached Kathmandu. My guide met me at the airport and gave me a warm welcome. After that, he dropped me to my hotel. On the first evening, my guide introduced me to other people who were going for Annapurna Circuit Trekking in my group. He briefed us about our schedule for next 17 days. Now, we were a group of six people.

Next day, we did a walking tour to the Kathmandu city. This city is popularly known as ‘city of glory’ and it was truly glorious. We visited Durbar Square. All the temples of Durbar Square are majestic piece of artistry. I recommend you to visit here. You won’t be disappointed. It’s a great insight to the Nepalese culture and a great place to start your morning in Kathmandu. After Durbar Square, we visited Bodnath Stupa. This place is the most famous tourist spot of Kathmandu. Every corner of this place is filled with great peace and artistic beauty which will make you wonder. After this, we went back to our hotel and started preparing for the next day.

On day three, we bid adieu to the ‘city of glory’ and headed to Besisahar. We were driving along the Trisuli Valley. There were some magnificent mountain views of Langtan, Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and Ganesh himal ranges. I was lost into their miraculous beauty. I was extremely happy. After covering half of the distance, we changed our course and started following River Marsyangdi Khola. We kept following this river until Besisahar. We reached Besisahar and started trekking. Our trek started with a gentle walk through some small villages. This walk ended at village Bhulbule. It’s a village which lies in a large lush green valley on the bank of Marsyangdi Khola. We could see the Manaslu Range from here. This is the entry point to Annapurna. We got ourselves registered with Annapurna Conservation Area Project. It is compulsory for all the trekkers to register themselves at ACAP checkpoint.

On day four, we crossed some suspension bridges that come after Bhulbule and then we followed a smooth trail. Our guide was frequently telling us about the challenges that we had to encounter. We kept trekking along the east bank of Marsyangdi Khola. We crossed a beautiful valley towards Bahundanda which passes through some small villages. On the way to Bahundanda, we saw some fantastic and unmatched views of Manaslu. Finally we reached Bahundanda. It is situated on a small hilltop. When we looked down, we got completely mesmerized with the views. Well, it was worth the effort. We spent some time in watching the amazing natural beauty and then we started descending towards Ghermu. It’s a scenic farming village. There is an exceptional beautiful waterfall known as Syange situated in this village. We spent our night in this village.

Tal was our destination for day five. It took us about six hours to reach there. On the way to Tal, we had to descend through some rocky and steep trails. We crossed to villages named Jagat and Chamje. At Chamje, we crossed a river to reach Tal which is situated beside the river. We spent our night in Tal.

On the seventh day, we woke up early in the morning and left for Danakyu. Starting with Tal, we crossed a wide and flat valley and reached a bridge which took us to bamboo woodland. With every step that we were taking ahead, our trekking was becoming more challenging and adventurous. We crossed some villages that hold a cultural significance. One of the villages was Bagarchhap. This small village is haven to small monastery. We heard some bell sounds that were quite similar to that of a mule pack which carries heavy loads to the upper regions of Annapurna. It took us about five hours to reach Danakyu. We enjoyed some magnificent views of natural beauty on the way to Danakyu. We spent our night in this small and beautiful village.

I was stunned at the magnificent beauty of Himalayas. We passed quite a lot of apple orchards and reached Kothlo. From this point, there was a flat trail to our destination Chame. It took us about four hours to reach there. The trail was full of adventures and scenic beauty. We enjoyed a lot.

It was thirteenth day of our trekking. Thorung La Pass was our target. This peak was the highlight of our trekking. We crossed some steep trails. As we were ascending, the trails were becoming gentle but the altitude was the biggest challenge. When we reached the top, we got rewarded with the breathtaking views of Kali Gandaki Valley and Yakwakang. After this, we started descending towards Muktinath. On the way to Muktinath, we saw some splendid views of Dhaulagiri which is world’s seventh largest peak. It took us eight hours to reach our destination.
